Do You Rotate or....

I try to rotate through my 30+ knives but some find their way into my pocket more often than others. My ZT 0393glcf and my spyderco sliverax are probably my most carried.

My normal carry is a Buck 110 on my belt, either a SK Blades Smoke Jumper 110LT, (CPM 154 clip point blade) an SK Blades 'The Gentleman' (CPM 154 drop point blade), a Buck 110 LT LE 'Racer' (420HC blade) or a standard brass 'n wood 110 (420HC or 440C blade, depending on which one)
Sometimes I'll switch out the 110 for a SK Blades 'Lil Jack' Buck 112 with a D2 blade.
In my pocket I generally have a Buck 301 or 371 Stockman (4 inches closed) or a Rough Rider RR603 stockman (4 1/4 inches closed) and a 4 blade scout knife or SAK Huntsman.
Depending on my mood, I might add a 2 blade Barlow, Canoe, (large) Sunfish, or a Moose or Trapper pattern with the stockman and scout knife.

The Buck 110 or an Old Timer 7OT has been on my belt 24/7/365.25 since roughly 1969 or 1970. A scout knife in my pocket 24/7/365.25 since 1960, joined by the stockman and/or a Barlow since roughly 1964 or 1965.

I got my first and only Buck 112 last year, and it replaced the 110 for about 3 months. I switch every few months between my various 110's and the 112 now.

Since getting my discontinued drop point Stryker a few months ago, I don't even know where my PM2 is--and don't really care-------sometimes my old standby 520 Presidio will get carried but basically the Stryker has replaced them all.

For some reason, I find the notion of having a 'rotation' of knives silly (nothing against those who have one).
Its a buzz word like knife 'deployment' and equally artificial and silly.
No, I dont have a rotation. I grab, which ever knife I feel like and which suit a purpose.
I dont deploy a knife either. I open it.
Deployment is what happens, when one goes to war.

I think it's foolish to rotate EDC firearms, but have no problem doing so with knives, undoubtedly because I've never considered a knife to be a weapon.

A little of both... I have 2-3 categories of knives for different occasions and I rotate in the knives I have in each categories

I don't have a select roster of blades I pick from, but I do carry based on the job/situation.

Off the top of my head currently in the last few weeks,
Casual/Office knife: ZT 566. My "office" is a bit of a loose term. As a contractor, I still get a lot of packages delivered and need to carry a knife that will hold up to being pressed into hard use on an unplanned run to the job site. The 566 is robust but easy to pocket yet not so expensive I won't use it hard. (Owed a couple months)

Job site work knife: ZT350. When I know I'm going out on the job for the day or several days, the 350 comes along. It falls into the same category of as the 566 as a tough knife but dont feel I need to baby. The recurve cuts banding really well. (Owned 2 or 3 years)

Dress knife: ZT 850. I dont generally need a nice knife for an evening out, but I like the 850 because it looks classy and is super lightweight for its size. (Owned a couple of years)

Outdoors folder: ZT 909. Probably my favorite ZT that I have owned. Love the size and robust build of the knife. When I plan on taking a little day hike or poking around on the trail, the 909 gets the nod. That said, the ZT303 I just bought may unseat it for a bit as it feels even more purpose built for that role. (Have had the 909 a few years)

Now, I do have a couple of "Always on my person" tools as well. I love my knives, but I have found a good multitool has saved my bacon more often than my knife.

Pretty much every day, I carry either a Leatherman Rebar or Leatherman Supertool 300 based on what I think I might get into. I won't go smaller than a Rebar on a workday. It's just too handy with the right tools.

For an evening out or at a gathering, GEC Beer Scout. What a fun little whimsical knife. My wife and daughter got it for me for Father's Day a few years ago. Cuts without looking like a weapon, pops my beers open, carries well in my watch pocket. The little flat head screwdriver has been a Godsend.

My line up does rotate as I buy or rediscover old knives, but my categories tend to stay the same as above. Like, I may feel nostalgic and carry a Buck 110 to work like my dad or maybe leave my outdoor folder at home and carry a small khukuri or Fiddleback.

We knife enthusiasts are fickle creatures.

I wouldnt really say I rotate. I typically use whatever is sharp at the moment.
Currently I switch off between 2 or 3 blades. Typically depends on what I'm doing for the day.
PM2 in REX 45.
Para3 in CPM-CRUWEAR.
Both were recently sharpened, but I carry the para 3 when I work in Boston. Also when I plan on using it at work alot.
It's more 'people' friendly because its small.

I have a few other knives but they dont get as much use. Hoback A15, gavko/FFKW mako V1 collab , chuck Richards counselor 2.0, and a delica 4 or police 4 in K390 (a huge folder blade is like 4+ inches)

I'm capricious. Sometimes it'll be the same one for days...other times it's something different every day if the week.

I've got about a hundred knives and around 60 of those get carried and used. Those fall more-or-less into categories--work users, users, light carries, smaller carries, dress or casual carries. Of those that get carried, work users and users get the most time and there's probably a core of a dozen or more that get the bulk of that. I don't have any specified rotation, but do try to get more and different knives into pocket as I go along.

Of those that don't get carried, there are only a few true drawer queens, and they're not necessarily the most expensive, but are those I want to keep pristine as they're unique, irreplaceable, customized, or just too clean to mark up. I have quite a few that fall into collections that don't get carried or carried much, and quite a number of those are not expensive or particularly rare such as my Sages (all 6 versions of the 5 models) or Tenaci (soft spot for that model and have a half-dozen different versions). I do have a few vintage Benchmades that I don't want to beat up, so they just get admired and fondled.

I've cut down quite a bit on knives that don't get carried as I've reached a point where accumulating more seems silly to me. I've only bought 3 or 4 since last June and have sold more than that to fund those and to tighten things up. I've let some go that I thought I never would, and while I miss a couple that aren't replaceable, I also figure I got to hold and enjoy them for some time and now have others instead that I both like and use.

I carry a Bastinelli/Marcaida Pika karambit every day and a different folder every other day or so.

I do not have a specific rotation schedule for the folders. There are many to choose from and, although I have my favorites, I try to avoid choosing the same knives repeatedly. My folder today is a ZT 0620CF tanto CTS240P Emerson wave, which I haven't carried since I bought it. Yesterday it was a newly released Spyderco Smock and the day before that it was an even more newly released Spyderco Ikuchi.

I go through phases. For a spell, I'll carry one knife for all occasions. Then I'll rotate for a bit.

My go-to pairing is an Opinel 9 Inox and Micra. I honestly don't need more and I know it will handle my needs.

An aluminum framed Buck 110 from Copper & Clad has become my most commonly carried main blade this past year.

The Opinel and Buck 110 frustrate me least.

Other's that I sometimes carry depending on my mood include an old script Buck 500 (<- my dress pants carry), a large Case Sodbuster and a US-made Schrade 6OT.
