Do you rotate your EDC?

I have heard many people do. I find myself changing pretty often. I usually carry at least two and they both change a couple times a week. They may change at the same time or seperately. How about you?

PS: Is changing your knife the right term? Kind of makes it sound like underwear. I guess if I had to choose between underwear and knives......

Lets see, I have about 25 different EDCs...Yes, I rotate. I usually carry 2 or 3 folders on a work day and rotate 2 or 3 times a week. On weekends, I rotate about four or five different small fixed blades.

Oh the dilemma, so many knives and only 7 days in the week! I usually carry the same knife for 2 or 3 days but never more than a couple of weeks. If I get a new knife that is EDC capable it gets carried for a while just to get used to it's feel and what it does best. At home I like to strap on a fixed blade along with at least one folder clipped to my pocket. My wife just doesn't understand why I have 4 or 5 knives on me at one time.

I carry the same 3 EDC knives that I have been for quite awhile now. I don't see any reason why I need to change this "line-up":

REKAT Sifu..
REKAT Carnivour Cub.:).
Leatherman Micra..

I do rotate the knives I carry, but not that often. Since I have sold a lot of my knives recently, I do not have nearly as many to rotate through.

Although I personally have more knives than I can shake a stick at, I try to give each one the loving attention it deserves.

I normally switch my pocket carry model 3 or 4 times a week. However, since I received my Terzuola ATCF, I haven't switched at all. Glockman99 and I will be the only two guys on the forums that don't change their everyday carry knives!!

I like to switch between different "belt carry" knives to suppliment my pocket knives. My normal rotation is between the following: IWB BM Model 42 rig, Gunting in Skunkwork rig, and Strider TKa IWB or high ride with a Tec-Lok.

I've lost count of my folding knives. I dunno, maybe 30 production pieces and 30 customs? So yeah, I rotate. Whatever is "brand new" gets carried for a couple weeks solid at work. Weekends, if working around the house or in yard, I carry a 710HS or a Dozier Slim Outdoorsman, or a number of other working knives (AFCK 800, Starmate, etc).

Self defense, i.e. "I know I'm going downtown or to French Quarter, etc": usually a Mach-I, or an AFCK 800 or 710 if I was outside working prior. If in a sport or suit coat, a 3.5" Pesh Kabz suspended from inside pocket.

Main carry right now: Either a 3" or a 4" JW Smith RC Fighter, 420V and ironwood on both. That and a small sebbie, maple burl. And a SAK cheapie, with toothpick and tweezers and nail file.

Oh yea,

I find what EDC to pick after I get dressed. I "knife around my clothes" if you will. No that I'm a doctor of style :p . I find some knives just don't go with certain pockets. My destination dictates my carry also. Some days I want to conceal more, or focus more on a defensive blade. Plus the other ones get jealous if I don't take em out once in a while :)

At one time. . .I had way too many knives to carry (and still do). I contemplated and fussed and fretted. . ."what to carry !" My tastes were wide and varied. . .auto's, high-end productions, customs, foldes, fixed, etc.

Finally, a decision process. . .how can I carry what I like and it covers such a broad spectrum of blades that I have !

One. . .and only. . .one. . .answer. . .rotation !

I rotate my EDC weekly. . . I have a "duty" carry and a "off-duty" carry. . .

"Duty" carry. . .

Mad Dog ATAK 2
Large plain sebbie (do a periodic swap-out with a large Carson Model 4)
Microtech SOCOM DA (do a periodic swap-out with a Microtech LCC DA)
JSP Arch Angle 2

"Off-Duty" carry. . .

Microtech UT6
Mayo TNT
Sebenza ( large regular )
Jason Jacks Raptor
Benchmade 690
Obenauf Model 1
Microtech LCC DA
DDR EDC
Microtech SOCOM MA
Kershaw Random Task
Carson large Model 4
Kershaw Double Cross
Dubruski Atlantis
Kershaw Ricochet
Caron medium Model 4

It's the only way to go ! :D

Yes, I do; every 4 to 5 years based on need I've found. Once I find something that works well, I generally stay with it.

Wait a minute, back the bus up... If you rotate your EDC, it is no longer your EDC because you no longer carry it everyday...It now becomes just a knife you carry once in awhile.

I rotate my "at home" EDC's, but at work (chemical plant) I always carry the same one. I really would like to rotate at work to but I just can't take the chance with my nicer knives. I work on a high platform of steel grating so one slip and it's all over.
Later,
Alex

I grab something differnet everyday [unless I have a new knife which usually gets a lot of attention for a couple weeks]

Too many good knives to carry just one. Currently something like this;

Work:
Ed Caffrey Progression II w/forged 52100
Darrel Ralph forged 52100 EDC (#10 0f 10)
Keith Coleman stag & damascus Banshee

Play:
large plain Sebenza
BM 710w/M2
Spyderco large Wegner
Spyderco Starmate
MT LCC

No.I always carry an Endura in My left front pocket.I have at times added a multi tool, sheath knife, fixed blade,Neck knife,SAK in another pocket.Unless I'm wearing a Kilt. Then I've got a Skein Dubh in My right hose top and a Dirk on My belt.tom.

Well, I'm a college student so I don't really have the money to have a large selection of knives to choose from. Right now I only have 2 high quality folders anyway...quality not quantity I say...:D Sometimes I will change up and add something but my Multitool and Military are always with me.

Yup,
BM 710 for one month, Emerson CQC7-B for one month.
That way neither can complain.
Cheers,
Gord.:D

I guess this is the male equivalent of "What shall I wear to work today?" or "Honey, does this knife make me look fat?" You guys are just as bad as us women, come on, admit it!

Rotation depends on the circumstances.

If traveling out of state, I carry an SAK. I wouldn't want to risk my CRKs
because I don't know the laws.

I work in a factory, so I carry one of my beaters at work.

Eventually I'd like to have more of an assortment to choose from for EDC.

Paul
