Do you save all your packaging?

Just curious...I save all the OEM packaging, inserts and paper blurbs, and the sales receipts (which I stuff in the boxes)...just..."because"...:p

I save them. All of them are in a box in my closet... Until my GF finds them and throws them out then yells at me for keeping so many empty boxes I don't need because I never sell anything... /shrug.

Yes I do now. I learned this the hard way after having to discount knives I was trying to sell because I did not have the box!

I don't save receipts - then again I rarely ever buy knives from a store. I do save the other stuff though. With that said, I certainly won't shy away from buying a used knife with no box.

It depends on what it is, and what my plans are for the knife.
I've got a few knives that have only been out of the original packaging for initial inspection. Sometimes, I know as soon as I hold a knife in my hand that I'll never carry/use it - I (now) keep the packaging for those, on the off chance that I decide to sell it. If I am going to be carrying/using the knife, and know I like it; I don't always bother - I don't think original packaging adds much value to a user knife.
That said, with the exception of maybe 5 or 6 knives, I've kept the packaging for just about every knife I've purchased in the past 2.5 yrs

I started saving my receipts and manuals and put them in the box mostly in case I ever need to send one in for warranty. Makes having the proof of purchase on hand and for the right knife very conveneint, not to mention the information on who to send it to, and you even have the box to send it in--though you should probably wrap it in something.

I will save it for a while, if its a knife I will keep it till I sell the knife but bigger things I tend to throw out the box I live in a apartment and don't like storing a bunch of empty boxes when closet space is limited.

I did u til my dog found em... All my Chris Reeve boxes haha, technically I still have them. They are just a bit chewed up.

But other knives like spyderco, not really.

I'm staring at my empty boxes now. I keep them on display at my desk. Hell, I even keep the gray warranty return boxes from Benchmade.

I have learned to save all of that stuff. My wife collects antiques and she watches some of the shows on TV where they buy/sell vintage items. Through all of that I learned that items with the boxes can be worth more so I decided to start saving all of my boxes. But there is a downside to this in that for most items that we deal with the increase in value is a small percentage and keeping the boxes is a lot of trouble. I moved recently and I had original packaging for flashlights, cellphones, computers, whatever. So I might be overdoing it a bit.

As for knives, when I buy knives on the forum I am usually buying them to use so I don't care if they come with boxes. I would actually prefer not to get boxes and pay a "user grade" price for the knives. Then I don't have to worry about keeping the boxes and when I get ready to sell the knife I sell it as a used knife and don't have to worry about the boxes. I do have a knife that I bought about 15 years ago to use as an EDC but I never carried it, now I find that it might be a rare model and I was considering selling it, but I can't find the box. I might not have had the box or I might have thrown it out, but it is harder to sell it now as a rare collector if it doesn't have the box.

Yup. I hold onto all of my boxes. Most have knives in them though.
My unused knives have to sleep somewhere. It's a great bed for them.:p

Nope.
I started doing so when I first got into straight razors.
When that collection grew into the hundreds it was time to toss all the non-needed parts.
That has since happened with my Japanese kitchen knives and folders as well..

Yes always. I try and keep my boxes as mint as possible as well. I keep boxes and paperwork neatly in a shoe box in my closet.

I did for a while but not any more, first it hurts so much to sell my knifes I figure without the boxes thats another excuse to keep them ( I wouldn't get what they are worth).:D
Second reason my mom always told me cardboard & paper bags Draw insects and mice.

Considering most of my accumulation was acquired used at estate sales, yard sales and flea markets so most of them have none. On the other hand anything I've bought in the last 15 years that's packaged in anything other than a blister pack I've saved.
