Do you still have your first knife?

Looking back, I had at least a dozen cheap lockbacks and slipjoints that were given away, or lost during my travels in the woods. I actually just got my first "real" knife, Spyderco Police, back from a friend I'd traded it to about 8 years ago. It looks like it's been drug down the road to Hell and back, but I'm willing to bet a quick visit to the Spydie folks will get it fixed up nicely.

So what about the rest of you? Do you still have the first knife that you owned?

I have my first quality knife...sort of. My Benchmade AFCK got souped up a bit:

The first real knife ( not a cheapie ) I ever bought was an Uncle Henry LB7. I just got it back on Father's day from my father who had put it up for me.I bought the LB7 when I was 10 years old. I worked at my dad's shop on the weekends. I got paid $5 an hour and worked 4 hrs on the weekend. With my first payday I went to Wal mart and bought it. I was very glad to see it and have it back. It brought back good memories. John

I don't have all the knives I've owned, like in Boy Scouts etc. However, the first knife I bought that launched me into knife-knutdom was a Spyderco Worker. Alas, it's also the only knife I ever sold (actually, not true, I sold it as a pair with a Cold Steel Ultralock). What happened was, I had so many friends who buy knives then sell 'em off again to buy new ones, that I wanted to try that also. Sold my worker, hated the feeling, have never sold one since!

My first knife was a small red Victorinox Swiss Army knife. A gift from my father on my 7'th birthday. I still have it. I'd never want to lose it. That's where my collection started.

I still have my first knife , or what is left of it, it is an old old old Imperial two blade pocket knife. Only one very used blade remains , it was pretty rough when I got it, now it has no scales and one dull blade , hehe. I still use it , it sits in my pencil cup by my computer at home.

My first knives were a small Camillus lockback and a Western M49 Bowie, from my father. I still have them both.

A spearhead-style thrower, solid stainless. Sheath disintegrated in the 1980s, but the knife is in great shape. Still use it.

It's around somewhere. It's a United Cutlery Forest-Master I think? Got it in Cub Scouts. I Really need to hunt it down again.

Yep! It's actually on my keychain as I speak (type). I got this five tool mini-SAK when I was in the scouts, and when I went through my 'More tools = better' phase, it went in a box, in a drawer, in God knows where. I found it by pure accident a few years ago, and I figured it would be good to keep a non-scary knife on me from time to time. Came in handy two weeks ago, when I grabbed a cactus and had to pull out the thorns.

My first real knife, that I actually bothered to EDC, was the kershaw scallion. I still have it and its still perfectly functional after 1000 or so openings.

yup, an eldery gentleman friend of my parents, who taught me fishing and stuff.....gave me an old fixed blade G. Wostenholm & Son, Washington Works, Sheffield England, skinning knife with bakelite handle. That was 23 years ago, god knows how long he had the knife

slightly pitted blade now, still holds a deadly sharp edge, could use a new leather sheath. It is the one knife i no longer use, as i could'nt bear to lose it or have it disapear out of my pak...

Yup. Mostly. It's a Buck 110. I sent it back to them many years ago to have the lock back fixed. They replaced the blade (the 'mostly' part), fixed the back, and polished the hammer marks from the bolsters. They left the original wood on it at my request, which was pretty nice for factory.
I really beat this thing up and it was my fault that the lock was broken, but Buck fixed it for free. I've had it for over 30 years now.

I got my first knife from my Dad at age 10. He worked for Phillips Petroleum (Phillips 66), and it is a promotional folding knife, has two blades (1.75" & 1.25"), has yellow plastic scales, and on one side in gold lettering says "PHILLIPS 66 GOOD NEIGHBOR - 1969" with Phillips 66 logos on either side.

The printing is pretty faded now. It never really took a good edge. BUT I've kept it with me all these years - 36 years!

Its certainly not the best knife in the world, at best it might have some mild value to Phillips 66 memorabelia collectors as a commercial promotional item (I once saw a description of one on ebay, but it didn't show a photo), but it is MUCH more valuable to me. I keep it at my desk at work - safe from the kids at home :)

The next knife I got was a Camillus Boy Scout Knife - took one heck of an edge. It was great until a spring snaped. The local Scout Store replaced it with another knife at no charge, and that one I still have.

That's a beauty, Steven.

My first "quality" knife was Cold Steel Tanto that I bought with my graduation money in 1992. I sold that off a few years later on eBay, but I kept my first one-hand opener with pocket clip, which was a Benchmade Leopard Cub.

My first real knife that wasn't a "Bo Bo Brand" was a Spyderco Endura with a serrated blade. I still have it but I don't use it as much any more. Now I prefer plain edge or at least 50/50 edge.

My first knife was a Case peanut. I've still got it. My first "modern" knife was a Spyderco Standard that was lost a couple of years ago.

When I first saw this thread by Chris I was thinking I have no idea what my first knife was. Then I remembered that when my Dad came back from the Korean War, he gave my brother and I both a knife. I was probably 3 or 4 at the time. Knife was most likely made in Japan. Thanks Chris for causing me to dig this one out of a drawer and putting it with the rest of my collection.

First I was given was my Cam Scout. Still have, still use from time to time, still good and sharp. First I bought was an OT 8. Same applies. :)
