Do you think a machete replaces a large "chopping" knife?

What's the big hook for? :confused:

I purchased a Browning Competition knife last year and have found it to be a truly versatile blade. The 1/4" stock near the choil splits wood just as well as my KaBar BK2, but the distal taper on the blade means it is light in the hand and moves better than my CS Trailmaster. Browning seems to have dropped this model though.

I do like and carry machetes, but I tend to carry short, heavy models in the 12 to 14" range. Here are some of my favorites:
