Do you think it hurts Sal's feelings when people call his knives ugly?

[QUOTE=Planterz; The continuing growth and success of his company probably helps assuage any hurt feelings he might have when an ignorant twerp who's never owned one of his knives says they're ugly.

You hit the nail right on the head....Perfection!

When I first saw Spydercos on the market I thought they were incredibly ugly and just plain odd looking. Since using them for many many years I started to see the beauty in the design, beauty in the function of Sal's blades. They are nearly perfect.....They are like the Lotus Seven of knives.

I never thought spyderco's were ugly, don't really understand why people do, I can stare at them and see how they look different from other normal crappy pocket knives but they're so much better than the normal 2 dollar design that has been rehashed 5 million times.

That being said though, considering how much Sal pays attention to people's advice on his knives (part of the reason I love spyderco and I think what helps to make their knives so amazing) I think he takes what people say and tries to work with it to improve where possible.

He is reading this (I'm sure through his tears he somehow manages) and probably figuring out awesome ways to make his knives even better while doing it.

Sal doesn't get sad, he just gets better!

I'm a flashlight guy who just started into knives with a Spyderco Native. I always thought they were a little ugly looking but after handling one and doing some research I find they are one of the best looking knives. I'm looking at buying at least one or two more!

No it doesn't hurt my feelings. I always listen to the opinions of others, but my focus is rarely on the appearance of the design. Eric has a good eye and often helps my "function" look better.

I've also gotten much feedback from customers that has caused me to modify some designs.
