Do you think Spyderco would drill pocket clip holes on the Military?

I wish spyderco would do a tip up version of the military as well, that's the ONLY reason the Millie isn't my go to everyday knife :( What's the point of the lanyard hole if the lanyard is buried in your pocket? I would also like a tip up version from a practical standpoint, I do construction work and having the pivot mechanism above the pocket allows it to fill with dirt, concrete dust and other debris...and in spite of what people have said, I have had enough crap get jammed in there to keep my Millie from locking open before :( Just my $.02

Sorry for the confusing post. All I meant is that it feels unnatural, ergonomically, to draw and open a military in the tip-up position due to its length and position of the spydie hole. Messer454, PM.

Safety, for models with weak bias to closing. Ease of drawing and opening for larger knives, because it positions the Spyderhole better. Personal preference, always valid regardless of whether or not there are practical considerations.

But, to get back to the OP's question, I severely doubt Spyderco would drill a customer's knife for a clip mounting position other than the ones it came with from the factory. It's not a matter of safety. It's simply that, aside from laser engraving, they don't customizing knives.

No offense intended but I have never understood this line of thinking. If the knife is carried on my right side with it all the way in the back of my pocket toward my hip it could not open tip up. If it is tip down and I fall or something, it could open up inside my pocket and stab me in the inner thigh or groin? Likely, no I admit it is not but I don't understand how I would be cut at all tip up. People must be carrying them differently than me and I can't see it. I have been carrying an Endura for so long I don't even bother to buy a knife that is tip down because I know I will not carry it. I would love a tip up Military and might send one to STR now that I think about it.
No offense taken. The way the Military is currently produced, with the clip where it is, and tip down allows you to reach and have something to grab onto to pull the knife out of your right front pocket (that is where I carry all my knives, aside from my smaller traditionals). As Decon stated, the position of the SpyderHole is also better for fast deployment. I've carried knives the same size with deep carry clips and they are a no go. Try pulling it out of any pocket with leather work gloves on, good luck. Another aspect is having to reorient the knife in your hand. Takes a while compared to the way it is currently set up for carry. Esav the mod here carries a Mlitary in his back pocket all the time, he hasn't had any accidental opening, that I know of. The autoneutering scenerio is also unlikely, I've carried a Mlitary more than any other knife over the last 5 years and have never had one open without my initiating it. It has a decently strong detent, and I'm still in tact. ;)

Ahah, that does make sense. My manix is almost too long for my thumb as well. Thanks for the clarification.
