Do You Think the Blue Manix 2 is Cheap?

I don't think it's cheap. Everywhere I look, it seems to be more expensive than the regular G10/154cm manix 2. This strikes me as odd, because I thought part of the notion behind it was to make an 'economy' Manix made of lower-end (or at least less costly) materials and such.

I don't think it is cheap. It's lightweight and well put together. That's not the same as cheap.

It seems most don't think it looks cheap. I think I will have to just get a Manix collection and buy another Manix 2 XL and a regular Manix 2 with the hollow ground 154CM blade.

I owned one for about a week. It does look cheap. Guess I like the look and feel of G10 when used properly. On the other hand, if the design center is light weight and low maintenance, then arguably its a better design than the traditional manix's. To be honest, my knife selection criteria has more to do with the cool factor, than practical use... so the frcp manic wasn't for me.

The manix lightweighr case is analogous to how glock pioneered the use of polymer in pistols. I was the same with glocks at first... fugly as heck... give me back my sig!!!

That is until I reluctantly shot one and discovered how accurate and practical they are. For guns personal accuracy, reliability, and low maintenance together trump pure good looks. I still love my other pistol brands, but glocks are now my go-to firearm.

It does look cheap but feels great in the hand. I also wouldn't mind trying out the CTS-BD1 steel to see how it performs in the real world. For me though I have knives I want more in that price range first.

BD-1 dulls a little quicker than VG-10, but takes a nice toothy edge again in just a few strokes on a rod.

When I first saw the knife I thought it to be cheap. I swore I would never buy it and complained about the lack of screws. I couldn't understand why Spyderco would give us this as our only regular production FFG Manix 2. Then I decided to take a chance on the LM2 because I carried my Dragonfly H1 a lot but always wished it was bigger but I loved the light weight and the blade shape. It(LM2) has now become one of my favorite knives to carry and is in my pocket on most days. Yes the steel could be better. Yes I still wish it was torx and not rivets, mostly so I could just swap an FFG Manix blade of a better steel into the lightweight not because they have failed in anyway. In the end it is a great knife for the money but it is in no way "cheap".
