Do you think there'll ever be another update to the Umnumzaan?

I would love to see internal milling to lighten the knife a bit.

A boomerang tanto would be amazing too.

Here is a 1st gen umnumzaan. The lockbar release is still present, but much much smaller in size. Chris responsed to people’s complaints that it was too hard to open by adding the larger release tab, and also adding the overtravel stop to prevent damage from people putting too much pressure on the now larger tab.

The larger tab is now a hotspot for some, and some people don’t like looks of the overtravel stop.

As with anything in the knife world......you can’t win!

Thanks for the pics, quite a difference!

^^People also complained about the design of the pivot which I always thought was one of the coolest features of the original.
I think one of the things that attract people to CRKs is the simplicity of their builds and how easy they are to break down and maintain. A pivot that requires a specialized tool to take apart (even if the tool was pretty easy to get your hands on) is a little antithetical to that design philosophy IMO so I can see why some people weren't a fan of it. It did look pretty cool, though.

I recently bought a 21. While I was looking, I looked 21,31 and Inkosi , and the Impinda.
At mo time did I consider buying another Umnumzaan. I love the one I have and for me the design is great.

S35vn suits me just fine - I consider s45vn a ho-hum “improvement”. Then again I haven’t used S45vn yet. Anyhoo, I feel a wharncliffe Umnumzaan is due. It would look cool, it’s a useful blade design, and it would do wonders for their sales. If only we could choose blade shapes on each model. I imagine that would ease some their projection and manufacturing risks or gambles.

How about a re-release of the Original Large Pivot Umnumzaan?

Available in original CRK and WC StarTac milling patterns...and maybe a new milling pattern, or three.

Judging that the average lifespan of OP Zaans on the Exchange is 17.8 seconds...I believe it would be like CRK renewed their license to print money. ;)
