Do you trust your tactical folder for rapid deployment?

I purchased a CS Vaquero Grande which I was woried about due to it being over a foot long. The man. specs say that its top lock will hold up to 125 pounds. The knife is comfortable to carry even with my leatherman. It is not high profile, and the only time someone really asked about it is when I had a physical (I forgot). The knife has a thumb stud, but it can be flicked open without it. The knife has a very positive grip, and I would be able to keep the grip even when wet. I also have the CS Desperado. I love their nogales blade style. Long time collector and big CS fan.

If your wondering if your folder will deploy in a bind I recommend that you get a Neck knife and let that be the end of that. Some are actually quite cheap like those from CRKT. I personally carry a Neck P.E.C.K. and a Kershaw Blackout plain edge. You should never have to worry about your knife's reliablity and if you do I'd get another.

I just wanted to reiterate that I'm not worried about my current knife, rather, I'm more interested in hearing why you are confident you can trust your knife, and what in it's design makes this knife trustworthy to open when you need it. This will probably effect future purchases. +--------Thanks...Ed

Um, unless I am missing something obvious, you can use your OTHER hand to open the knife, while you're holding the knife in your main hand, so there's no need to worry about getting cut.

I personally do not trust myself with my tactical folder for rapid deployment. Yeah, it's not exactly what the thread said. I almost never have any problems with any of my folders actually. It's my body that's the weak link. In that, I mean when my palms are sweaty, I am heaving heavily, and I have someone who is pouncing on me fast, yes, I have a problem reliably opening my folder.

Of course, this has been mentioned in the past to learn to fight with your folder closed. Bram Frank is the only guy I know that has gone as far as making a knife specialized just for fighting with the blade closed. I personally think that it is worth at least some consideration to make sure a folder design is useful when closed.

As for the adrenline dump, I've done a test where I sprinted as fast as I can for about 30-40 yards, and immediately pick up a folder to open as quickly and efficiently as possible. I've had problems with getting my thumb in just right to open my Carnivore (thumb stub) and AFCK (thumb hole). Part of the problem was also sweat. Guess what turned out to the the most effective for me. Carnivore with the inertia opening with my thumb holding down the slide release.

Feel free to duplicate this test and check your results. I'd like to know what you folks thought.
