Do you use a pocket clip?

Do you keep the pocket clip on your folder?

I usually have a folding knife of some type with me at any given moment. But I can't stand pocket clips and the first thing I do with a new folder is remove the clip. I just don't like the way they dig in to my hand when actually using the knife.

Am I the only one who de-clips their folders?
 
If the same knife is available with or without a pocket clip, I'll take the one with the clip. That said, I won't NOT buy a knife just because it doesn't have a pocket clip.
 
Not enough choices in your poll.
If a knife has a pocket clip, I will use it. I like knives with pocket clips.
But I also have traditional knives that don't have pocket clips. And those are good, too.

It's all good. And you don't have a choice for that.

I agree that there aren't enough choices in the poll. I can take a pocket clip or leave it. The only knife I have with one is my Spyderco Manix, and IMHO the clip fits right into the ergos of the knife.
 
It gives me grip and leverage when opening, especially with AO and auto knives
 
gotta have a pocket clip! i dont really like when a knife shifts alot in my pocket. the only excepetion would be a classic looking slip joint
 
That depends. I like using it when I am wearing a long shirt or jacket. But I am working for the state and see a lot of civilians every day and the mayor as well and it's not a great idea to show them that I am carrying the knife. So I let it lay flat in my pocket. This is annoying sometimes of course.
 
My EDC need a pocket clip for easy access, I always know where my Spydercos are and I also know they aint going anywhere. I wouldnt mind an EDC fixed blade but they are illegal up here in Toronto.

Agreed.

I like pocket clips on most of my single bladed locking knives, but definitely do not want one anywhere near my slip joints.
 
I say clip for the onehanded folder that sits IWB most of the year, in winter i may change if the coat is too long to reach the knife fast so , i put it in a pocket but the clips are always there!
a SAK or slippie with no clip is in my gight fron pocket.

I don't base buying on whether or not there is a clip but I don't remove them either. I normally carry one knife with a clip, often a Mcusta or Folding Sting but for public use there will be a traditional slippie like the Case Peanut in my pocket as well.

G007 is right--It's a Busse Game Warden. Makes a good EDC--no clip! :D

In re the number of poll choices, I didn't want it to be too complicated. I really wanted to see how valuable people found the pocket clips. So I left out a middle ground choice to leave only a positive or negative response.

I like a clip in so far that it can keep a knife high in a pocket or for IWB carry, but I find that the ergonomics of the handle are invariably messed up by the clip. Not a problem if you are just cutting string or opening a box, but if I'm doing serious work, invariably the clip rubs or creates a pressure spot. So off it comes--it's a trade off between convenience and function. YMMV.

And so far most people seem to keep the clip on. I'm surprised that it is by such a large margin though.

Let's see how it develops....
 
I like a pocket clip, but mostly for the versatility. At work, my edc is in a sheath on my belt, so no clip. Outside of work, it's usually clipped in my pocket. A clip is nice but not a necessity.
