Do you use lanyards?

Not on my EDC knives, it's just not necessary, and it's not comfortable having something hanging outside the pocket. But I do have one on my key chain, it makes it a LOT easier to find inside the pocket :)

I use Lanyards on every knife I carry, Folder of Fixed. It may seem that some are just for asthetics but there are several advantages to having one, once you experience the benefit it will be hard to do without one.

Here are some that my Daughter (who is 10) has made for myself or others

All of my non-kitchen knives and most of my other hand tools have lanyards for a variety of reasons. I've been using lanyards for 50+ years and once you get used to them, you never go back.

I use to have a lanyard on my EDC SAK, but took it off, due to it getting in the way when using the tool. Beyond that, I do not currently have a lanyard or anything similar on any of my knives. Although, I have contemplated putting one on my Colt hunting/survival knife (if for nothing more than to put some blaze cord on it, in case I ever drop it), but have yet to do so.

I will on a small knife with no clip such as the ladybug and cricket and some fixed blades like an Esee 3 and up.

I find that they are great for extreme activities such as:military, rafting, climbing etc.
Not just for knives but for all important equipment such as compass, flashlight even cell phone.
the lanyards I use are thin no special knots and secured to my person\pack .Fb wrapped around the handle. In the city I don't use them except for a Terazuola Spydy that came with one.

Only on a knife without a clip of which I own just one. Although I'm not fond on lanyards I do enjoy making them.

It depends on the knife, some shorter handled pieces I like a hangmans noose lanyard to give a little more grip, some are good without.

I love paracord though.

Whatever you do, don't use a lanyard on a scuba diving knife!

Not sure if this is supposed to be sarcastic, but I've been diving for over 40 years and have been an instructor for over 30. I wouldn't take my knife, line cutter or shears in the water without lanyards. Just be sure they are either easy to cut or made to breakaway if necessary. (I use those little retractable steel lanyards that clip onto my BC.)

My buddies and I have found enough rusty dive knives on the bottom to know that a $5 lanyard can save you hundreds of dollars over the years.

If a machete or other chopper flies out of my hand, I don't want it coming back to bite me. Anyone with me will be keeping a distance when the big blades are out. For small blades, I've never given it much thought.
