Do you use the blade on your multi-tool?

I don't know why multi-tool manufacturers feel a need to put a blade in everything. I would think if you're the type of person to carry a multi-tool, you probably carry a pocket knife. If it's a big one like a Swisstool full size, ok, sure, throw the blade in there since you don't care about size. But, on a tool like the S2 Juice, I would gladly give up the blade (and lanyard) for reduced weight and profile (or maybe a missing tool, like an awl). I can maybe understand something like the Swisstool Spirit where it's a totally different kind of blade than you normally carry.

So, do you guys use the blades on your multi-tools?

Yep, all the time even though I usually have two knives on me. That Wave blade is just so easy to deploy.

Yup, all the time. I look at the blade as a backup to any purpose built blade I might have, which is why I chose to go with a Charge ALX v. the Wave as my main tool.

I used to only carry a multitool. i used the blade all the time. i only recently switched to a knife and multitool. I do still use the blade sometimes but i prefer to use a dedicated knife because they are more comfortable to hold.

The last few weeks I usually carry a knife and a multitool and don't use the blade on the multitool.

On the skeletool cx. You bet I do. It's just as convenient as any other clipped pocket folder. It's also more comfortable than the rectangular handles of most non-SAK multitools.

Actually, I suspect if you're the type of person to carry a multi-tool and you frequent knife-geek forums like bladeforums.com, you probably carry a pocket knife.

The other 98.7% of guys who buy multi-tools probably just strap 'em on the old belt and get by just fine.

So, do you guys use the blades on your multi-tools?

Sure do.

I every day carry the Juice C2 and I use the blade all the time.

Same here, I use my muti tool blade all the time, sometimes I go for the muti tool blade over my pocket knife blade.

I use mine frequently! (and also carry knives)

It's the least used implement . Multi Ergo's are all wrong for good blade use . The Spirit works for me , as the "Butterknife " is a usefull adjunct to my SAK and dedicated folder .

Formerly, I used to carry a folder along with a multitool for the convenience of one hand opening, but that changed when I got a Charge TTi. Now, one multitool can do it all. Sometimes, when expecting to do a lot of cutting, I'll bring along a knife, but that's about it.

I often use the blades in my multitool even when I also carry a pocket knife:

The plain and serrated blades in my Leatherman Wave are my main cutting tools at work, mostly used to cut electrician tape, plastics, cardboard, rope, to strip wire, scrape glue and whatever cutting task that involves dealing with semi-hard, rough or dirty materials.

My other office knife is a Victorinox electrician, the llitle blade is for around the office use (envelopes or light tape) and the main blade is reserved for food.

Saludos.

I always carry a folder, and sometimes carry a MT on me.
Which blade do you think I use more?

I rarely use the blade on my pliers-based multitool because I keep it in my backpack and I always have at least one folder and a SAK in my pocket. I also find the ergos while using the blade on this specific multitool (a Leatherman Surge) to be uncomfortable. On this particular multitool I like having the blade as a backup. However, I would have preferred it if they didn't make it one hand opening, because I think the ergos, while the tool is closed, would be greatly improved.

I always carry a clipped folder in my left pocket and a Multitool on my belt. I like the thought of having that extra blade with me just in case I lose the clipped knife or if it breaks. I love my Multi tools with a blade. I dont want them any other way.

If I am carrying a MT, I always use that blade first for Gen Utility duties.
