Do you use your CR often?

Constantly. I even had it sitting on the table in the hospital when my baby was born and the nurse with the German accent said "Oh! You have a weapon!" To which I replied "actually it's a tool, i take it everywhere with me", and she said "ahh I see, it's your security blanket...."

I think it's awesome that you consider them "prime" in your collection. Once you use them I think their status will even be elevated. I used my umnum to field dress a few deer this hunting season.

I use it when I need to. No point in carrying it otherwise. If I think it might break, I'll use the appropriate tool.

My small insingo micarta is my most carried and used knife I have. I love the insingo blade, it seems like it pulls whatever I'm cutting into the blade more so then other designs. My favorite carry knife of all time easily.

I've carried and used a CRK every day for about two years now. Every once in a while, a spyderco slips into my pocket and reminds me of why I carry CRK. I use a knife probably at least ten times a day, and some days I use it probably close to 100 times.

Currently I have 5 CRK Users...a Zaan, a Large 21 with Box Elder Burl, a Small 21 with Box Elder Burl, a Mnandi with Box Elder Burl, and a Blue Steam Ti Loc. I have taken the Pacific out in the woods but did not need to use it. The rest are at home for viewing and potential future use. None are in their boxes.

I also display some of my knives. I have a few display boxes I hang on the wall of my office at home where I keep my most 'prized' knives. I keep two of the CR, a couple rare italian stilettos, microtech etc. custom knives....basically the expensive stuff.

I use my insingo everyday. I've also beat on my Inkosi quite a bit. Love my CRK's!!

My main one-hand opening EDC for the past 13 months has been my large plain-jane Insingo. I use it every day. I get far more enjoyment out of it by using it than if I were afraid to scuffing it due to its price. I'm not saying that everyone should feel the same, but it's just how I feel.

I do understand being nervous about ruining a high-end knife. Back in 2002 when I had my first CRK, a large regular Sebenza, its edge came extremely obtuse and dull out of box. I decided to reprofile it myself, using my Sharpmaker. That way I wasn't removing too much metal at a time. It took a LONG time, but I finally succeeded. That got me over my fear of messing up my CRK. That one got a lot of use and scuffs all over the handle, but I like it that way.

My 2015 Insingo came scary sharp, and its edge is ground evenly along the entire edge length, so it's very easy to tough up. Surprisingly, the handle doesn't have many scratches yet, but I'm sure they'll accumulate naturally. The end of its clip is all scratched up from when I tripped and fell during a walk last year, but that's it.

Enjoy your CRK. These knives are meant to be used, but if you enjoy it by not using it, that is fine, too. CRK knives can handle a lot, and the great thing is that they age well, too. I view the little marks that accumulate on them as giving them character.

If you were fortunate enough to marry a "10", would you just look at them? Or take them out for "playtime"? Or try and "use them" as much as possible? Granted, I am not looking to pimp out, sell, or get rid of what I have so my intentions may be different 😜 I kid

Honestly, I am a cheap dutchman. Whenever I purchase something, I think about how many hours it would take me to earn that amount of money. Then I think about the worst hours that it took to get there. I am the one who earned that money and I need to justify it by using the crap out of the knife. Imo and Ymmv

Use mine 24/7-365 for anything and everything that needs a knife to get it done, and some things that a knife may not be the best tool for!

I have 3 CRKs but only use two: small Seb and a small Inkosi with the Inkosi getting 80% of the pocket time. I use these but if there is a job that will be hard on a knife (and I have time!) I will use another "banger" knife I keep in my car.

All day, every day.. I rotate my CRK's frequently, and while all are larges, I use Regs, Damascus, 21's 25, Insingos, etc. With a little common sense, they all do ANY job I ask.... I of course carry a Leatherman for a loaner!!

My insingo professional soldier gets used heavily every day. My insingo 21 gets used quite a bit. Thats the point of having quality knives, using the hell out of them.

I only own two folders now, both CRKs and one is an identical backup. So mine is used everyday..... I refuse to call my backup a safe queen as it will be used eventually, so I'll stick with backup.

I think I used my small 21 about 6 times today and my large 25 twice. If I buy them, I use them. I won't buy to just look at.

I have a couple that haven't seen much use because I haven't really bonded and not sure I'll keep them. But, my small plain Insingo gets daily use and weekly touch ups. It's taken on a nice patina and suspect it'll be in my pocket on my last day. My spydies and benchmades are stashed in drawers and in my truck for easy access but rarely carried these days since I've found the right knife for me.

I carry my CRK's but won't use them for any hard cutting chores besiudes string and opening boxes because the steel is too hard to sharpen back up.

For cutting cardboard and stuff I use Chinese knives with a easier sharpening steel. A few licks and the Aus 8 or 440C are back to hair shaving sharp. The CRK takes to long to sharpen up after a hard chore and is not worth my time sharpening.

Too hard is not generally what I have heard associated with CRK. Many would love to see other super steels used.
This is the reason Chris picked/helped develop S30V and S35VN; A balance between usability and edge maintenance.
