Do you use your mammoth ivory knives?

Medicevans: I find mammoth less prone to cracking during pinning....much less. It is like it gives a bit.

After a one or two-day honeymoon period, I put all my tools to hard use. Not abuse, but I use them. I end up enjoying my tools that much more.

My #61 Half Congress is in Elephant Ivory. I carry it on occasion in a soft leather slip I made at home. Saves it from dings and scratches.

I have made a lot of ivory knives and think that mammoth is less prone to cracking than ele ivory or walrus ivory. It is a bit less brittle for whatever reason. It is certainly less brittle than bone hafted knives. I say use them.......and in fact...use them up if need be.

My Norfolk Whittler in mammoth ivory arrived today. Amazing handle material. I will most definitely be using this knife. Often.
