Do you use your talonite knives?

Does this mean that my water proof watch is not really water proof, but only water resistant to whatever meter rating it states?

Cobalt,

Your watch has a "meter rating". I believe that Marion and Cliff were pointing out that talonite doesn't have "one" yet. Mendeleyev table is very specific about nonreacting "noble" substances and talonite is not one of them.

Glowing blue in the dark would make it a great river knife

Thanx for your input guys! I have one more question to our material gurus. How the RC hardness scale apply to talonite?

i dont know that much about this...but the c scale measures surface hardness by pressure denting with a diamond stylus....it is not relevant in the case of stellite alloys because in spite of its relative softness (48 is a LOT harder than gun bbls) its wear resistance it up there with 60Rc cpm steels. The softness factor seems to be its only weakness as far as I can see...that is why I am using .156 talonite on my new TNT and leaving the edges thick and grinding a long bevel on the edge....the stuff works great!

As it is very low you would expect the material to indent readily, be weak, tough and ductile and not very abrasion resistant. All are true except for the last one.
