Do You Worry About "Legal" Blade Length??

It's tricky here in Southern California. California state laws are fairly lax about blade length and carry restrictions. County and city codes vary greatly however, and since Los Angeles has so many cities crammed together in such a relatively small space, its easy to travel a few blocks and find yourself in a different city with a completely different set of restrictions.

Glendale, for example, has some of the heaviest restrictions on knife ownership.

While CA has no restrictions on folder length, it does make illegal concealed carry of fixed blades. So, I carry folders only.

Exactly. That's why I always have a waved knife on me. As fast as a fixed blade.

Here in Oklahoma their is no state law regarding the length or type other then automatic's. But some city's like mine have length law's. In my area the whole knife cannot be over six inches. So a knife can have a four inch blade if it has a two inch handle. But I do not fallow any law's regarding knives it is my constitutional right under the second amendment to carry whatever I want. I don't need or want the police or government telling me what I can carry wen most of them don't know the law themselves. I carry a seven inch folder witch is close. Then I carry nine inch fixed blade iwb along with a pistol.

What I don't get...

Killing another human is illegal. Injuring another human is illegal. Does it matter what you use to do the deed?

I wonder if their have been any court precedents of people winning a case against the state in regards to federal law superseding the state/county/city laws? I dont get how KS, a very rural state much like Oklahoma, can enforce such restrictive knife laws...I have carried bowies in KS though and just don't make a scene or bring heat upon myself acting a fool, doing so has never had a police officer ask if i was armed.

I live in Arizona, so I carry whatever the hell I feel like carrying.

In my country, a knife is a big no-no whatever length the blade is. And I'm a law abiding citizen, that's why I carry anything I want.

I follow the law everytime i carry a pocket knife or multitool.

Im not going to give anybody an excuse to point fingers at me. And im not giving the police an excuse to fine me.

In the woods, im allowed to carry what i want.

In this part of Cali, city municipal codes are generally more restrictive than in any county (or unincorporated areas) and (Glendale & Los Angeles) has adapted the "blade 3 inches or more in length" to be "unlawful", & while wearing/carrying in "plain view" in any public place. There are exemptions to this (GMC Chapter 9.24.050.B) but it is always important to be aware of the local laws rather than be on the other side of the fence.

They are not the most relaxed in the country. Their are no knife laws period.

I find that actually pretty humorous! like when I was in Alaska with my wife (whose Alaskan) I found out there were length restrictions and such...but funnier is that the cops do not enforce the law, I had a 9" bowie on my hip in town after coming back from fishing while talking with local police who were admiring the catch.

Like anything, you can stretch the law to your favor in certain circumstances and locations.

You are right. but no goats. O.k no mall ninjas, just Street scum.lol can i say that?? lol may be i should of said people with two head.:D

Years ago, I played the dope game. I was arrested/searched a lot. I lost approx 2K worth of MT OTFs to da man. I later started tweaking on knives, waving everything. I learned that a waved folder is faster than any swithcblade. A waved 3" folder beats pretty much anything besides a gun.

haha! :D i'm glad where i am in the US wont have mall ninjas (1.5 hours to the closest city with a mall) and you don't get em too much in big city Australia, most I've seen is mall thugs who think they're "gansta".

I do not worry about blade length laws, but I do take care. In the city or at work I typically carry a SAK or something of similar size. In the country side or the woods I don't mind carrying something bigger.
