Yes, do you keep the boxes your knives come in or chuck them out?

2 schools of thought here I suppose. I tend to get fed up with boxes and don't have room for them lumbering up the place.

On the other hand, a lot of pictures posted include the box, adds to the value? But isn't this Safe-Queenery:D Responses let's see what the consensus is?

I keep them all... but I couldn't tell you why. I suppose that if I decided to start selling things, it'll be nice to send it in the original box, but that isn't really the reason I keep them. I also keep all the little warranty papers and plastic bags and whatnot that are in the box.

Same here.

I have one Big Box in the top of my closet, and the little ones go in it like pieces of a puzzle... if it ever gets full, then I guess it'll go to the attic and another will take it's place. (unless my wife finds it, then I'll be divorced due to the number of knife purchases made and I'll probably have to sell them all to pay for the attorney).

I keep mine and look for empty ones for knives I buy without one. I don't have a problem with boxes if they are well made, flimsy ones suck beet juice.
Tins also are bad-they take up to much room for what is in them and they are slippery/don't stack well. They do make a gift look nicer.

Well, being that I only buy Customs, there really isn't any box. My Matt Cucchaiara came in a plastic tube, and I did keep that. BUT, when I was buying production knives, particularly Spyderco's, I DID keep the boxes. My reasoning for trading or sale purposes.

I don't know about anyone else, but I find that when I need to sell something, being able to say I have the box and papers adds to the value. I know that I've personally seen some knives (like Sebenzas) where there might be two identical knives, and the one with box and papers not only sells for more, but also faster than the one without those things. I don't have that many knives, though, so its never really been an issue.

I too keep the boxes, mostly for resale or trades. They do take up a great deal of room though.

I learned awhile ago that "if" you decide to sell your knives, you will sell faster and usually for a higher price if you can supply the original box and/or papers that it came with. I keep mine in a medium plastic storage box and keep in my storage shed.

I keep the boxes mostly to keep warrenty stuff straight. I put my original reciept in the box so if I ever have a problem I know right where it's at.

I keep all the original boxes, the included paperwork and the sales receipt for all my knives. Why, I couldn't tell you! :D

Yeah, I keep them. I have a hard time throwing out the packaging they come in much less the actual box :(

I keep all the boxes, papers, baggies, and receipts. I don't know why. lol. When I have a knife I am not using at the moment, I will put it back in the orig box so I know where it is, and keeps them nice too. It takes up some space...... but I am a pack rat anyway, so oh well. :D

Knife goes in pocket. Box goes in trash. No problem.

Knives not in pocket stay in top dresser drawer until they go back in the pocket.
