Doberman handles, really bakelite???

Thanks gents, i would say i am sold on the bake it lite (;) ) i also thought it looks like a fighter. well i am pretty sure i am getting my self one on good old Credit so i'll let everone know when i get it. thanks to all and if anyone owns a K1 DOB jump in and let us know how you like it

Bakelite is a phenolic resin. Micarta is a phenolic laminate. Micarta is laminated with similar stuff, but has layers of fabric in it which help to reinforce it, probably giving it greater impact resistance. G-10 is also a laminate, but with fiberglass and epoxy.

Phenolics are much harder than conventional plastics because they are thermoset, applying high heat and pressure to create a very dense, tough material. Buck uses phenolic resin in some of their classic fixed blade handles, and no one seems to have any problems with them.
