Hey folks,
This is the last one from my old shop. I filled orders on a model for local chefs that I priced too low. I hit burnout and ended up taking a break after filling my final order.
I found this one incomplete while moving things around in my shop. I started it quite a while ago and had never finished it.
What is it?
This started life as a piece of 0.29" 5160 that was hammered to shape and then full flat ground. There are still hammer marks in along the spine which now averages 0.25" and maintains that thickness for well over 4/5 of the blade. She is quite blade heavy and is an smooth cutting tool. I set the back soft with a torch along the spine and let that go to within 3/4" of the cutting edge. Final finish is linear 400gr. handrub with a few flaws visible if held in the right light.

The handle wrap is orange flat wrap over gutted para-chord for bulk and then a black Japenese style wrap with a Turk's head knot guard. Everything was then soaked and encased in Devcon Epoxy resin to add durability, make cleaning easy, and help prevent the chances of food matter staying lodged in the handle. I also added a small Salmon figure to the left side in Japanese fashion.
