I was hiking on Sunday and saw this vine, someone said it is Vincka (sp.?) vine... What do you know about it?

Mike, the Vinca I'm familiar with is Periwinkle (Vinca minor). It is a vine with blue flowers. That could be what you're picture is showing but it's much too far away to tell.

The only use I've seen is in conjunction with basket making. Never tried it myself.

Doc,

There were flowers, I would say more violet than blue... The effect the vine created is pretty interesting, it covered a fairly substantial area....

Periwinkle is a ground cover type of vine.

"more violet than blue" - LOL, I only know 8 different colours and I'm blue-gray colour blind. Let's see if this link works - note the asymmetrical petals.

Doc,

Yep, the link worked and that's it.. It's an interesting ground cover, have you seen it?

Yes, it grows in the area where Phil, kgd and I spent Earth Day. I think it was pointed out that day, in fact.

It's fairly common around here.
