I've known
DocJekl
the good doctor several years now, he had purchased several things that I posted up and also I helped him out with an occasional leather slip sheath and several lanyards.
In turn he made several attempts at returning some of the favours I had made with a knife.
But the majority of those were usually dressed up a little with a lanyard or sometimes a slight modification that bettered the knife, and returned from whence they came.
At first he wasn't pleased with me returning the gifts but as time wore on, he figures it would probably be returned at some point so his disappointment has lessened and grew to accept the inevitable.
I of course always thanked him for his kindness, plus it never hurts to get to handle a knife in person that I would otherwise may never see, so that was a bonus.
But if the knife didn't really suit me, I just don't like them to rest in a drawer so they would be turned around and head home.
It's been about one year now that he had sent me one of Knaf's Lander model 4 fixed blade, a modest fairly inexpensive knife that I knew I would find uses for so this one did stay as I felt it was special.
And yet, I could not help but do a slight modification to the blade, I ground down a clip point as I am not overly fond of wide tipped blades, it now as a more acute point and to my eyes, a better profile.
I also added a vertical leather belt adapter to carry it, so it rides at a more accessible position now.
