Doctor’s Knife Collection

One of the moderators used to have a collection of custom doctor's that I think they liquidated. Pictures in here and Customs for sale. Do a forum search, you might find some gems. I think there is an exquisite Eugene Shadley in the archives.

Wow Stuart those are special. The Appaloosa legume is a swoon maker.

I know it isn't the peanut thread but... oh. my. word. That legume is superincreditastic. All of the doctor knives are superb too!

Thanks, guys. Here's another Case 85 from 1974:

Whether that's true or not, his insistence on quality is apparent in his China made knives. I've read more than one comment on various forums from owners stating that his China made knives rival some custom knives. I own 8 or 10 of them myself and I'm inclined to agree.

Agree as well. I have the Russell Hobo Knife (Boxcar Jack Revised) and it is far superior to the Case version although at a higher price point.

Y'all are tempting me on the AG Russell but I am just not a fan of the steel which is why I often ignore the Case knives too.

Silly question; what makes a doctor’s knife a doctor’s knife? I always thought of it as a spear and spatula jack, but apparently I’m a bit off on that definition!

Beautiful knives D Duckdog

D Duckdog Wow buddy! :) Beautiful knives Stuart!!:cool:

D Duckdog what a treat !!!

Thanks, guys. I got to carry one of the abalone-clad Cases to the last cocktail party that I have attended in a tuxedo. I pulled it out to spear an extra olive for my Martini and it caused a discussion, all quite complimentary to the knife. There were more knife guys there than I expected. It made my week!

In short, the long thin blade(s) to dispense pills or powders and the flat butt end for crushing pills into powder. The spatula is handy, but not mandatory. This is my understanding and I am unanimous in that.

Traditionally I believe it has had the spatula blade but the flat end for crushing pills and the long spear main are the only things I have never seen missing from any Doctor's knife. I have seen spatula 2ndary, small pen 2ndary, the scalpel 2ndary, and single blade Doctor's knives.
