Doctor Walter Welch - We're going to miss you

Walt will be sorely missed, as will be his erudite posts and occasional emails!

I had noticed he did not seem to be posting as often and had not heard from him for some time regarding the Carley bulbs* I on which I was waiting and which someone else mentioned. I imagine he had not been feeling like his usual self and did not have the energy. I keep thinking of that sappy song, Walt would be laughing at that, and maybe he is.

I wish his family the best, in this difficult time.

He was a true gentleman....no strike that, He 'is' a true gentleman and his presence will be felt here long after many of us have left.
Walt, I did not know you, but your words had a great affect on many here including myself.
May his family find peace in this hard time.
 
While I never had any direct contact with Walt, I quickly came to respect the man within only the first few posts of his that I read. He seemed in all respects to be a fine example of a human being, and he will be missed. My condolances to his family.
 
I too must make a comment. Walt was a long time friend. We had our differences but also had great times. He was brillant, very, very, generous, and a true whacko! His wonderful posts will be sorely missed.

Hey Baldy! Good to see you here my ol' friend! I can never think of Walt without thinking of you also.

Sorry I missed you a few weeks back when I tried to give you a call. Trust all is well with you and yours in the shadows of that great mountain!
 
I never met the man, but I sent him ONE short E-mail looking for a quick answer to my gunshot wounds. Doc wrote me a full and very concise opinion without having a clue who I was, and what the actual mechanics of the injury were. I simply told him the terminal ballistics data, and the weapon used from what distance. His information turned out to be of such VITAL importance to my health and so far advanced from what the EXPERTS had first said, that the surgery I then underwent was completely different based on ONE E-mail from a Gentle-Man who just wanted to help.
