Just got the Dodo last night from Mike at NGK.
It's an awesome little knife!
It's much smaller than I had first thought - very much like a thin Lil' Temperance with that incredible blade. The front of the blade profile looks like that of the Cricket with an extended point.
The Dodo is very light, but does take up a bit of room in the pocket because it is so wide (similar to a Lum Chinese folder). Still with the trailing edge of the distal handle area, it can be carried clipped to the pocket with little notice. When you bring the Dodo out, though, it will get noticed - more for its unique looks than anything else (I hope).
One more thing, the lock and entire function of the folding blade is very smooth and easy to manipulate. No dragging on the scales (well, maybe a little), and the ball bearing gives very little resistance to the opening process. Again, I have to compare it to the Lil' Temperance as to the smoothness with which this knife opens/closes.
The Dodo is also very small in the hand. My hands completely cover the handle with just that little, awesome blade sticking out.
I doubt that I will EDC the Dodo (I have a FRN Delica and SS Cricket for that), but with only 24 hours of ownership I am sure it will remain one of the most fascinating knives I own.
Maybe the ATR will top the Dodo in "fun factor". I'll find out tomorrow when it arrives. For now, the Dodo is the coolest knife I own.
Thanks NGK, Spyderco, Eric Glesser, and the Bladeforums.
