Doe! Here's a tip for draw filing that I recently stumbled upon.

I've been putting a small fan on my work bench and pointing it directly at my blade when drawfiling. I've found that it blows all the particles off the blade between strokes. Since I've started doing this, I've found that my files don't load up as much, even though I use chalk. But, more importantly, I pretty much eliminated the "Oh Dangit Scratches" that occur when chunks get caught under the file. Anyway, just thought I'd pass it along. Take care...

Hmmmm.... Things that make ya go hmmmm....

I wonder if there are some of those dang it scratches from a belt grinder too? I also wonder if a magnet near the belt path would pick some 'dang its'???

hmmmmmmm......

Rob!

That sounds neat, but it is pretty tough to get those buggers out of the file, how could the air get under there and prevent that?
If I was a billionaire I would have a few hundred files in a box so that I could do a pass and not have to clean it, just get a new one :D

I think its preventing scratches from leftover filings.
It blows the loose particles off the blade, not out of the file.

Correct, Brian.

I still stop frequently and wipe the file, and I also wire brush it every so often. The fan simply keeps all the stray particles off the surface of the blade. With out the fan, I use a draw and blow rhythm, but it doesn't work as well.
