Does 416 stainless always smell like Chinese food when you grind it?

...what's up with ironwood!!! The first time I worked with that stuff I thought the sewage had backed up or something.

That has to be the stinkiest wood known to man.

I got some new glasses this year and whatever the coating is, when a hot spark melts it it smells like garlic pasta.
I'm glad I ate before reading this post.

Which network do you think would be interested in the idea?

I'm sorry I asked...

Anybody tried soy sauce to quench 1095? I bet it would work good.

I'll bet you're right, Bruce. All that salt would probably keep the vapor jackets down. :D

Are you sure it was the 416 stainless steel that created the smell or the belt you were grinding it with? This leaves the question just begging to be asked, has your wife been using your belt grinder to defeather chickens?

Beautiful knife, Phillip. Taste like chicken?

You know what, I forgot to taste it. I'll take a lick and let you know. :D

It was definitely the steel. I've been using these belts for awhile, and never smelled anything.
Sadly, I'm not married yet, but my parents run a small pastured poultry operation. I'll ask them. :D
