Humbling for them at the very least. Give the katana owners a handicap; use your other hand. If the khukuri still won, the effect would be devastating!

I am left handed. If you know Japanese Kenjutsu you know you have to do it right handed. So I can now cut with either hand heh...heh...
All kidding aside this is a blade shape that goes back beyond the kukri. The recurve has a..lot of mechanical advantage.
Blade shapes, edge profile, steel, proper forging, heat treat and even the mounting; all contribute to the correct riddle-of-steel as expressed in tools and weapon craft. Any _one_ single failure can ruin the entire process.
