I have this posted at the levine forum as well. Just checking to see if anybody here might know about these knives too.
This navaja was given to me by an aunt. Do you know the age and value of this knife? The blade is marked Valero Jun Zaragoza. Also do you know any thing about the case knife below? Thank you for any help you might be able to render

Not real sure how much help this will be, but looking in the knife collectors guide by Roy Ritchie and Ron Stewart here is what I found. Model 6250 Elephant toenail- Sunfish. 4 3/8" closed length. Was avliable with a bone handle or laminated wood.

You will need to provide the blade markings (how Case is written, and dots on blade and so on) to get any idea of age. This book has a little value chart depending on knifes age, so let me know what it says. Of course this book is a few years old and value will vary greatly based on condition, but at least it will give you a starting point.

Hi Richard, and thanks for helping. Here is how the blade is marked
CASE XX
U.S.A.
.........
on the other side of the blade is the number
6250

Ok, it looks like the knife was made between 1965 and 70 with that particular mark. Value given is 300 dollars.

I dont really know anything about Case collecting, and I am just repeating what is in this book, so I would definately reccomend that you get a knowledgable Case collector to verify this.

Hope this has been of some help....neat knife ya got there.

Richard the blade is in need of a good polishing, do you know of anyone who could make this knife look like new? Or is it more valuable left alone? Also where might be a good place to sell or trade this knife?
Sorry for all the questions but inquireing minds need to know. Thank you for all your help

Mmmm...I would not do anything at all until a collector chimes in here. It is my understanding that if you restore the knife or polish the blades or anything like that, then the value will drop like a rock. I think its better to leave as is.

I dont know where to sell it....get a solid price and try the for sale forums here maybe. I can tell you where NOT to sell it. Do not take it to a gunshow and trust one of those 'dealers/collectors' to give you a fair price. There lot in life is to convince you your knife is worthless....screw you out of it and laugh at you when you are out of site.

If the "S" in USA on the Case knife is rounded it's made between 1970 and 1980. If there are 9 dots under the USA it would mean it was made in 1971. When Case started the dots they started with 10 in 1970 and took one away each year.
If the "S" is what is called the "lightning S" or kind of like the old SS shape then it's 1980-1990, same system with the dots. For an accurate picture of the value just go to e-bay and search the completed auctions for some examples that are close in condition to yours and see what the market really is bringing.

The Navaja is really cool, by the way.

Thanks Dave You should check out what Bernard wrote about it in his Forum.
I still have no idea as to it's value though
I hope to find this out because I might want to sell or trade it one of these days.

Neat knives!

There is a young custom maker in Missouri that specializes in Sunfish patterns. Can't remember his name.

I guess the size is so outlandish on the Navaja that everything seems distorted. At first, I thought it looked kind of dumb for a fixed blade, that the maker had essentially put 2 handles on it. Then when I realized it was probably a folder, I simply couldn't believe the size.

Is there any chance you could get a SIFU or MADD MAXX to photograph next to the navaja? I think even Laci Szabo's (sp?) big honker with the blade longer htan the handle might seem dwarfed by that big mother. Anyhow, would make a great pic.

Thanks for sharing such unusual knives!

I should be getting a large Vaquero pretty soon. How about a comparison to that?

I would enjoy that a lot! Thanks KC. I'll be watching for it!
