and just keep their folder in their pocket ?? Even though I havent removed any clips...I sometimes just keep the knife in my pocket...Do any of you carry this way ?? I would think most knives would feel much better without them...Any comments ?? Thanks...

Personally, I don't, eventhough I carry them inside my pocket. Sure it would feel better without the clip, ..but if I decide to change my mode of carry while on the road I wouldn't be able to unless I carry around the clip and the tool to attach it, which wouldn't make much sense.

Only once. . . The knife is carried in a custom-made sheath specifically made for that knife.

The only knifes I ever removed the pocket clip on were my two sebenzas. That was because I thought the clips sucked, I ordered two custom made belt sheaths from Gary Graley for those. I also lost the clip for my 710 axis lock, I actually liked carrying that one better without the clip. most of the time I like the clip, the only time I would take it off is if it inteferes with gripping the knife.

I find myself gripping the clip with my fingers when opening many of my knives. If the handle is especially smooth they can be great for holding on to. As far as looks go, clips suck on every knife IMO. I've never taken one off though...

The only time I do is when the clip is of a poor design, as in the case of my CRKT M-16 I thought the knife carried to high in my pocket, so I removed the clip and replaced it with a Bencmade/Spyderco style clip so that it rode lower and was less likely to get caught on something and pull out of my pocket.
Also removed the clip on a Gigand/Fred Carter Spectrum, most definately the most useless clip out there, IMHO, now That Im think about it, I've had the clips off most of my EDC's at one time or another only to replace them if they worked well, if not they stayed off.

I leave them on since I like to be able to easily switch back and forth between different types of carry. Also, sometimes the clip, while not necessarily all that comfortable, may actually increase your grip on the handle and your "bio-feedback" with respect to that grip.

I removed the clip from my Strider AR because I carry it in a belt sheath and I am a lefty. Feels better in the hand without the clip for me.

Clip is still on all my other knives.

I've de-clipped all of my folders (maybe a dozen in all). I live in a city full of pickpockets, cops, unhinged street people and bleeding hearts, and the last thing I want is a weapon poking out of my pocket or waistband. I'm never going to use the clips, and they all interfere with my grip, so off they come.

If I feel insecure, I just reach into my pocket and manipulate the knife into position for quick deployment. No one knows it's there except me.

Toughest clips to remove: William Henry Kestrel with teeny-weeny T5 fasteners, and my Sebenza where the clip seemed to be interference fit into the frame and needed to be pryed loose after the fasteners were off.

Funny you should mention that, as I've been thinking about removing the clip on my Spyderco Chinook, since it is on the wrong side of the knife, and pointed in the wrong direction, anyway (I'm a "Lefty")...And it looks like an "Uncle Mikes'" Glock .45/10mm cordura magazine pouch will work just fine to carry my Chinook in, on my belt...:).

I like to keep the clips on mine. I find that without the clip the knife tends to fall horizontally in my pocket and I find that pretty uncomfortable. Also I need the clip for when I carry it clipped to the inside of the back of my jeans.

I like the clip just because it makes my carry options more diverse. On the odd occasion I have unclipped it and just left it in my pocket...thats when I was traveling on the skytrain and I didn't want thugs to see it and grab it while I wasn't paying attention.

If the knife is tip up,,,,the clip is removed immediately.

I carry clipless knives in custom made leather sheaths or loose in pocket.

Some tip down knives that feel "right" will be carried cliped to right front pocket.

FK

Well, the clip on my spyderco Endura just snapped off (less than a week old  ) so until I get to the store I'll carry it without the clip. I have removed the blip before, depending on the situation I'm in - but for just walking down the street I always keep the clip on for a quick draw.

Good Evening Everyone-

While it would be nice (especially with suit/tie) to not have to deal with the extra metal of a pocketclip, it's not worth it from a "convenience point-of-view" for removal.

After work or on the weekends, when I'm in jeans, the pocketclip is very handy. Darn near feel nekkid without feeling that pocketclip under my right hand.

Once my Busse Pepper Shaker arrives, that is going to go around my neck. I'll then switch to a smaller, clipless knife for pocket carry. Carrying too much cr@p in your pockets doesn't look nice with starched shirts and pressed pants, anyway.

If the clip will come off, it does. If it won't come off, I won't buy it.

The only clip I have ever removed was the one on my wood-inlayed small classic sebenza. It came with a leather pouch with I use to protect it from my keys/change when I carry it.

90% of the time the clip comes off.
I find the knives look and feel much
better without the clips.
I usually carry 1 knife in a belt pouch
and 1 clipped to my pocket.

I take the clips off the knives that I intend to carry in a belt sheath (SERE 2000, for example) or in my pocket attached to a lanyard (small Sebenza).

St. James :
If the clip will come off, I remove it.
Me too.
I own two knives with clips that I have left on or had to leave on.
Sypdie Harpy and MT-UT6.
