Does anybody use friction folder ?

Little bump on this thread. Svörd mini peasant here. Almost impossible to make this thing malfunction.

I like friction folders, even if they’re a tiny bit less convenient than regular locking folders. Something about the simplicity, as the only type of folder that doesn’t need a spring of any sort.

it’s a shame there aren’t all that many to choose from. Below are An Ohta FK5, Michael Morris, Nagao, and a Lionsteel PPC Occam.

The lionsteel showed me I could use these as a daily, as it’s large enough, a good steel (M2), and has the most comfortable handle in a folder I have. It’s contoured like a Loveless dropped hunter, but with that finger choil instead of a guard up front. Was a limited run for an Italian shop named PPC years ago so you don’t see them around anymore.

Have a MCusta higo coming, hopefully it will prove as good a daily carry as the lionsteel.

Have one but don't use/carry it.

An Extrema Ratio BF2 R CD. Bought it off of the Exchange a couple of years ago.

Love the design but can't get the hang of how to "safely" open it "quickly" w/o cutting my pants and/or leg w/its razor sharp blade trying to do so.

You get the picture. LOL! ;)

In old times majority of folders were friction folders. Why they are almost extinct. I found that friction folders are very good, can easily be opened by one hand, nice and simple. Does anybody else use friction folders ?
I've got a bunch of Case and Victorinox knives that I sometimes use for my EDC. I appreciate a good locking blade, but the classic slip-joints (or friction folders) still appeal to me and for most EDC tasks they work just fine.
