Does anybody Wootz?

Here are 2 scans of my newly purchased Roselli wootz-pukko.

Bearly visible pattern. Seems like no acid-treatment has been used. I wonder how the knife would look treated?

So give us a review, does it cut well? How is it different from homogenous steel from a functional POV?

Al Pendray is well known in blade smith circles as the Wootz pioneer in North America. His stuff is said to be not just like wootz, but IS wootz. There is also some unverified claims out of Russia.

Al Pendray comes to mind very quickly.
