Does anyone but me miss action movies from the 'good old days'?

My list of favorite action movies would include:
Death Hunt (Charles Bronson), Unforgiven (Clint Eastood), Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (Warren Oates), Once Upon a Time in the West (Bronson) etc. There are too many good ones for me to hit the entire list. I liked Predator and some of the other 80's and early 90's movies. The first Rambo was pretty good.

Heck yeah I do. Predator has so many fun sayings in it. My favorite is "I see you" whispered. And one cant forget "get to the choppa!" Check out this video of "How Predator should have ended".
It is hilarious! Be sure and watch past where it says "The End"

I watched a De Niro classic with my daughter a long time ago. It was Taxi Driver. It's a great movie but the special effects were kind of embarrassing.

I don't remember any special effects in Taxi Driver. :confused:

I loved the anniversary re-release that was at the theaters a few years back. Re-mastered sound and picture. It was like watching a brand new movie with DeNiro being 25 years old again. I don't think anyone would consider it an action movie though, and it wasn't from the 80s either. :p

I'd rather watch the old reruns of "Gunsmoke", "Have Gun Will Travel", "Lawman", "Rawhide", & "Wagon Train", rather than the garbage on TV now-a-days...

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

With Gunsmoke and Have Gun Will Travel, there was a moralistic point to it all. A lesson is good and evil. The modern movies are pointless violence with poor acting which doesn't matter because the actors and the whole movie for that much are just a vehicle for the CGI special effects. Most of the moves of the 1980's were ridiculous drivel.

Yes the older shows are much better, they stay on one story line instead of multiple ones as in the shows today. They also moved slower easier for the viewer to keep up with than the flashy shallow content of the stuff on TV today. Shows that come to mind like Get Smart and the Beach Combers.

You ain't kidding. Chuck Conners, the peace loving rancher single parent "Lucas McCaine". Putting the smackdown on hundreds of bad guys with his old saddle gun while teaching his son to be peace-loving and forgiving, a morality lesson in every show to rival that of Ward Cleaver. And FYI, Conners really could shoot that levergun that fast and accurately.

Anyone a Seagal fan back in the day? I know the guy is a bit of a douche, but I respect his martial arts. "Above the Law" was mind blowing when it first came out. Then all his other movies had 3-word titles... I actually enjoyed his role in "Machete." His death scene is one of the best all-time for a villain.

"Doucheness" aside to be honest, although I think "Above the Law" came out in '89, yes, in all fairness his very earliest films were very watchable, as well as his legitimate, high-level skill (in other martial arts as well firearms too). It was also because of him that people outside of martial arts got to see what the heck "aikido" was and for those within the MA community were also reminded of the more more practical aspects of the art.

Another great scene from way back; the bar scene in Out for Justice (redirect because of the language)

BTW, I believe he got an even earlier exposure on the Merv Griffin show (which may have pre-dated Above the Law)

The fight scene between Patrick Swayze and Marshall Teague in Roadhouse is still my favorite fight scene.

I love Road House. It's so awesomely cheesy it's impossible not to enjoy it. And Jimmy's line in that fight scene is one of my all time favorites (I can't say it here - you know the one).
