Does anyone else have a love/hate relationship with the key-ring that comes on most Victorinox knives?

I take them all off. After slamming a reamer down on one with one of my first SAKs they come off now

Same thing for me. I have one SAK with a flat spot on the awl from that ring and removed them all after that happened. The only exception was were I could capture that ring in the corkscrew to keep it from rattling.

Interesting topic, I think most of us whom are hardcore knife enthusiasts first and foremost may prefer to grind them off, but those SAK enthusiasts seem to be fine with the lanyard ring.

I feel like we’re ignore the important fact that if Victorinox sold you a single blade knife with the key chain split ring, they’d tell you about the two very cool new tools you’ve acquired.
I tried to think of possible use for that lanyard ring attachment, and the only thing I could think of is to use it to bend thin wires.(or may impromptu fish hook...if you are in a 'survival' scenario)

off topic, but what are those pocket pliers you have there?

Oh yes, forgot about the dang little ring on the Classic SD hooking on threads in my jeans pocket.

Yes, I do have a love/hate relationship with the ring/ring nub.
If it's one that will spend a lot of time in my pocket, then the ring/ring nub must go!
But if it's one that will ride on a belt pouch most of the time, then the ring stays because it does offer some utility (lanyard or "dummy cord" option when dropping the knife might be a potential disaster).
