Does anyone else try to limit themselves to one knife per run?

every multiple of a model pattern I have has a different blade shape or blade arrangement, including case, queen, and canal street.

The exception being GEC #09's, I have 4 of those :o

I only have one GEC, the bladeforums 74 from a few years back. I do plan on getting a few 71's at some point, I usually don't get multiples, but I will on the 71's.

Depends: I have three 74's two Drops and one Clip, and two Charlows with different covers and blades. But, otherwise one of several other patterns. I did reserve two of the 13's and who knows, I may get both? It is really dependent on; do I like the choices, could I sell it if I didn't and a lot that others have already said.

I have purchased exactly one GEC on the vast wasteland auction site and I did not overpay for it. As Paulhillborn said, those prices are crazy! Usually accompanied by some ridiculous claim of "investment" quality collectible etc..

I have purchased a couple from non-dealer folks here on the exchange. A much nice experience IMO.

I tend to buy only knives that I know that I like . I buy them to keep for the rest of my life . I think a lot of the GEC product , but they are not the only makers out there . I tend to buy only Northfields for me . I have bought 2 that are not . I collect Old and Northfield Barlows . I have bought multiples of the 72's , 73's , 74's , 83's , 47's , 18's , and 92's . For many years I had one good knife . Now I am changing that. I could not possibly wear out the knives that i have . Some day I will start giving many of them away to my family and my friends , but today is not that day .

I am certainly guilty of buying multiple variations of GEC patterns that I like. For example the Beer Scouts, the Northfield 77 Barlows, #81s, #71s,#63 Makos, #85s, #92s, #48s, etc. Some of them are users and some are just in the "accumulation/collection", safe queen category. I will probably sell off a good portion of these at some point in the future. On the other hand there are GEC patterns that don't appeal to me and I don't purchase any, such as the #83s, #47s,#14s, #25s, etc. For 2017 I don't plan on purchasing very many GEc's , although I will probably be tempted. I have way too many knives as it is, beyond just my GECs, so I will try hard to stop the buying and focus on enjoying what I already have.

Yeah, right..........................:D

I am one of the GEC oldtimers, having bought my first one 9 years ago. I have grown tired of the effort needed to buy most of the new runs, and pass on many of the new releases. But when a knife comes out that I really like, I usually get several different handle variations, depending on what the offerings are. The recent Stallion #74 run had some nice bone, so I bought 3 different ones, a Tidioute, a Northfield and a GEC stainless.

Say Heah Everybody. Maybe luck found this tread. I have a beautiful slipjoint pocket knife made by Shefield Cutlery in Shefield , EnglandIts a beauty and I can't find a darn thing on it. Any info puh-lease chime in.,,.

A NASCENT CULT OF GEC ???
I think thats slightly sensationalist an frankly a bit harsh .
Now to general business I'd like to raise a point of order.
Let it be known from henceforth that Brother meako wishes the robes of membership to be changed from rough hessian with hoods to silken cloth with a fur collar of finest colubus.
Secondly ,I call for an army of minions to volunteer to go forth to GEC premises and agitate for a new run of #12s
Thirdly Brothers ,can we make sure the candle wicks are trimmed correctly before the next moonly gathering is conv... oh hang it we are a flummin cult arent we?.:)

Say Heah again , Everybody. Yeah, when I use ine of my retro style Bokor 2011 Collection Fix Blade, I like pairing it with my vintage Myerchin Rigger's Pocket Knife. The modified Warrencliff Blade and the good lock-up since it's used on the High Sea's, Plus a Marlin Spike to untangle paracord, Match eachother too. yeah a very nice functional matching set. I also like my Gerber Gator in the 154CM. I also have the clip point in the 420HC a solid knife that goes we'll when I just go with a Trio. A knife, Hatchet, and Saw. I also like my Cold Steel Black Rhino as a Bush Craft Folder, again goes we'll with my Trio's. But I also have some vintage pocket knives made in the U.S.A.,,.

I don't have to "try." Can't afford more than one. I also enjoy having different patterns vs. accumulating multiples of same.
