The Haladie is a very rare weapon originating in Northern India. It consists of two reversed blades mounted on either end of the handle and sometimes includes a smaller third blade mounted in front of the handle guard somewhat like a modern push dagger.

Stone devotes a total of 26 words to this knife:

"A Rajput double dagger with two short, curved blades fastened to the opposite ends of a straight handle (Eggerton 390). A similar weapon is still used in Syria (fig 342)."

This two bladed example was posted by Jens Nordlunde on the VikingSword forum.

There was also 3 bladed example which was sold by Ashokaarts. (see below)

Although, both of these appear almost ceremonial in quality, the example which turned up at Therion Arms (attributed to the Sudan) was much more business like, and very similar to the one illustrated by Stone.

Since the weapoon seems to have migrated along the trade route; I wonder if examples have been unearth in Nepal. Does anyone have additional photos or info on these intriguing knives?

Here is a business like example from my collection. Notice that the center blade has an odd number of waves as is traditional on kris blades.

I've never heard of these before, but I sure like them for some reason. Thanks for posting this.

I'm really curious as to what sort of techniques (if any) would be employed in this knife's use.

Fascinating.

Take care.

Neat, unusual pieces. The first looks like two Bichwa daggers with one handle. Some of these had a small shield in the middle.
