I would be most indebted to anyone that can post some pics of a Bark River Golok in use or in situations of Bushcraft.

Thanks!

Here's my older golok. The patina is from a full season of daily use maintaining trails.

second generation specs;

Overall Length: 16.775 Inches
Blade Length: 11.1 Inches
Cutting Edge: 10.775 Inches
Blade Steel: 1095 @ 57 rc
Steel Thickness: .224 Inch
Weight: 17.125 Ounces

Of all the fixed blades I own the BRK&T golok is perhaps the most versatile. In most cases in a temperate forest environment an axe is hard to do without but these goloks will do almost everything else you need. I have spent many a weekend with my natural canvas Micarta golok and pocket knife and never felt under equipped.

My thoughts exactly! Sorry, somehow I deleted my whole album of knife pcitures on Photobucket:mad: I'll need to get some my knife picks back up, but it'll be awhile, sorry:o I had several pictures of the BRKT Golok as that is my primary chopper for most backpacking/camping trips. It rocks for doing "bush" crafts:D Making a pot holder over the fire, bushcraft chairs, platforms for gear, etc...I don't chop big wood with it, usually nothing more than 2-3"; stuff mostly sized for shelter making. It quickly trips saplings/branches; can be used as a draw knife and is perfect for battoning. One of the reasons I really like the BRKT version is the narrow profile is perfect for the pack.

I'll dig around for a few pictures and get them back on Phototbucket...

Found a few on my laptop:

I took my BRK&T golok out today. We had some hunting land divided between my brother and myself. While I was checking the surveying job I spent some time clearing trails and shooting lanes. The golok cut everything I asked of it and remained razor sharp. When I came out of the woods a adjoining land owner stopped to talk. When he saw the big golok he asked about it. I was showing it off and he told me he had never seen a machete "worth a shit."
I chopped thru a pine leaning over a fence, then a dead oak branch and showed him the edge would still shave my arm. The look on his face was priceless.
:D:thumbup:

What happened to all the pictures on this thread?
Never mind, computer problem on my end

When did bark river make a golok in a2? I have one from the first and second run and they are both 1095. If it is in a2 then it probably collectable since that's not what either run was

i have a black canvas micarta Golok... i love it... they are a lot of fun to use and definitely well worth it..

no A2 goloks I know of. we tried to talk Mike into it on the last run. The first generation was 1095 the last ones were 1080.

Both run about 54 rockwell. This provide adequate edge retention with sufficient toughness to hold up in the chopping they are designed for. These goloks need to be wielded with a direct and firm stroke. Do not let the blade roll over in the cut or it will be going back to Escanaba for a regrind. Use it correctly and it will cut like a chainsaw.
