Does anyone have a picture of a BRKT Golok?

This one was not long for the world.:D

It was in the upper 20's so temperature didn't have anything to do with it. I was trying to split that piece of wood and the front of the blade got cocked at a 45 degree angle, so when I hit the back of the blade in front of the handle to get it straight...SNAP. LOL. I was quite shocked. The baton was barely 2" in diameter.

I stand corrected the first generation was 0170-6. Then a run in 1095 then the last batch was in 1080-C.

I forgot the very first run.

Covered by warranty of course.

Sorry about resurrecting the dead, but I need to find out what blades are in this pic. Obviously I know which one the Bark River Golok is (have it and LOVE it!) but the rest are a mystery as I'm just getting into machetes, choppers, etc. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.:)

Top to bottom

Parang (Brand unknown)
ValiantCo Parang
ValiantCo Golok
Condor Golok (Love this thing)
Martindale Golok

Rock6 will probably be along in a bit to clear up that top one. I wanna know what it is too.

CRR, thanks. I can't get over how similar the Bark River Golok's blade looks to the ValiantCo Golok's. They are all sweet looking machete (types) and I want them all, but even moreso than with folders, it doesn't seem right to have extra/safe queen machetes and choppers... I mean, I go camping or hit the bush only a handful of times per year... good excuse to get out more.

Those ValiantCo Goloks are good blades. I had one for a while but didn't use it much and gave it to a friend who was just getting into knives and has a thing for SE Asian stuff. He loves it and uses it almost daily at work (landscaping).

i suppose ill pipe up....

production run in 1095...

top blade is 0170-06(?)(...similar to 52100?) proto run with the 1095 prod run below. notice the significant changes made to the blade and handle...there is also a distal taper on the front of the proto....

having owned both at the same time i eventually sold the 1095...it felt wrong in my paw and too forward heavy...the proto is a dream...ill never get rid of it and its my #1 machete (#2 is a tram bolo)

if asked which model i prefer...the prototype for SURE :)

Karl, CRR is right on! The top one is a parang by Sheffield of England; I've had it for some time. The tang is covered in rubber for the handle. It's a pretty stout blade, but the steel is pretty soft. It has a sharp bevel angle. I much prefer the Valiant Parang's convexed edge.

Thank you, Sir. I like the looks of that Sheffield. Do you have any experience with Martindale's Parang?

Where did you get it? I did some quick searching and had trouble finding Sheffields in N. America.

I love the Bark River Goloks so much that I can't help myself, so here's some pics... (it's been used extensively since these shiny pics and I'm keenly aware of what magic it's capable of.)
[whisper] shhhh.... If anyone repeats this I will deny it till I'm blue in the face, but I even like my BRK Golok more than my newly acquired Fiddleback Forge Bow Legged Chopper and Koster Monster Nessie.

I actually have a bunch of questions regarding Bark River Goloks, but I think I'll start a new thread as it's verging on hijacking

Unfortunately no, however I really think the Martindale Golok is really well done. It's a little rough around the edges, but mine has taken a razor's convex edge.

Oh, and cut out that "Sir" crap...you've got to me older than me and therefore my elder..."Sir":D

Sheffield Knives

It's still produced by the UK company of Sheffield Knives...It was originally sold by Brigade Quartermasters, but I don't think they carry it anymore.

Not sure about our ages, but I am sure that you outrank me:D. I was a lowly Cpl. when I left the Army.
