Does anyone have any experience with O7+?

Heat to 1475º-1525º. Quench in oil. I don't have a soak time. When I do I will add the information.

The chemical composition is the actual results from having the steel tested.

Butch, this is not Hitachi blue steel. I meant to order O1 and got this by mistake.

Dave, it is nice to read your comments. If you are going to actually test the steel I give you I'll get you more!

after i had looked at some of the specs i could easy see its not super blue :o

it is indeed odd but if i put in an order for some other things (read soon) i might get some just to try out

Not much time with the hammer after I separated my shoulder in September. It's just starting to be strong enough again for light hammer work. Not that I wasn't slow before. :o

The steel this reminded me of is Togo Inukubi (犬首レイ号)
C 1.15-1.17%
Cr 1.32-1.35%
W 5.0-5.06%
Mo 0.18-0.21%
V 0.38-0.4%
...
Clearly it's not the same thing, but it ought to be in the same ballpark. Togo Inukubi is the name it was sold as in Japan but originally it came from England.

There are several similar high carbon high tungsten compositions they still have in small quantities and use for plane blades. Super blue is the modern replacement for these old steel formulas.

thanks Mete and Chuck...allways looking for that unobtanium! In reality I still haven't started to try that s90v I got from ya Chuck, but pretty soon though! thanks, Bill A.
