Does Anyone Have Experience with this Grinder?

1 US Dollar = 1.2470 Canadian Dollars now. I sent an email asking fo a price with a 110 VAC 1.5 HP with VFD. I do not see it offered as an option, so if they can't set it up I can just buy the grinder and add it myself.

I may be wrong, but I would be very concerned about the belt tracking on that machine. In my experience similar style machines, of that design have serious belt tracking issues when grinding....the span between the idler and contact wheel is the problem....it will track fine with no load on it, but if you apply pressure to a work piece, the belt will "jump" in the direction you apply the most pressure. In some cases I have even seen the belt come completely off the machine. Now let me be clear...I have not used this specific machine, but have used a good number of like designs...and they all suffer from what I described. I actually have something similar in my Forging shop, but its issues are so intense that its been relegated to deburring and other minor grinding chores.

I own one! used it for about 4-5 months before all bearing were completely shot.contact wheel is so wobbly that it almost looks like the driveshaft is bent.tracking is actually not to bad.but it is far from a kmg.when i recieved kine one pulley was cracked but the maker sent me a new one ASAP. i had heard really good reviews on this machine, and some guys who own them really like them.maybe i just got a lemon. mine now sits covered in dust waiting for me to replace bearings and hoping the driveshaft really is'nt bent.

Well there ya go.... I've never used a grinder like that, own a BK, but you heard from someone that owns one. For a little bit more you could buy a bare bones KMG or for the same price build a NWG with a motor.

If you are going with this kind of grinder, I would go with the KMG. And ordering out of the USA sometimes can be a problem at times.

Ouch, OK, I am off that track. Still saving for a KMG.

you will not regret spending a little more for the kmg . My grinder is almost like that , a speed cut from Utah yrs. ago . They are limited in performance . If I spent the money yrs. ago , I would not be spending my days now looking for a new one .

It is a good grinder especially for the price. A 10" wheel would make it more useful. I know the fellow who makes them. He is a tool and die maker and very capable in designing and making all sorts of mechanical equipment . He does make knives at times and that engraving you see is also done by Knut. The Canadian dollar is so low tight now you would be able to buy it for about 80% of that price if USA funds are used. Frank.
