Does anyone have some in-hand shots of the Manix?

i'd love to see them, i've got my eye planted squarely on this thing as my next treat. problem is, i'm no where near any higher-end/better-stocked knife shops, so any pics (or links) of this knife in hand would be great. thanks in advance.

Shot in a hurry at my messy work desk and poor lighting.

Hope this help. :D

i think he meant literally, in your hand. thats a pretty good idea though, i'd like to see a few knives i'm thinking about in hand as well.

Oopps, yeah I think so. My bad. ;)

Like this? :)

But to really feel you have to hold it for yourself, in your hand, IMHO.
:D

In my left hand.

In my right hand.

I feel the same way.....the Manix seems to have been custom made for me.

I've NEVER had a knife become "an extension" of my hand like this Spydie.

You really have to hold one to know what it feels like.....

excellent shots, thanks very much fellas. this is definitely my next banger [*wipes off drool*]. that handle is exactly what i would design if i made a knife for myself. question about the blade, which i should probably ask spyderco: is there any advantage/disadvantage of the edge going straight into the base, versus having the end of the edge exposed? i hope i worded that comprehensibly.

hey ken, you're a LEFTY?! so am i.. any suggestions on the finer points of switching over the clip? i've read about some issues with thread stripping.

I took the clip off to lightly sand under where it bears on the G10 to keep it from eating my pants pocket. Use a #1 phillips screw driver and be careful. When the screws are snug, you're done. Don't give it "one more to be sure". :D

I have a Chinook II, and prior to this thread I didn't get the point of the Mannix, but now I do.
Very nice.
I found Santi's multi-angle photos very helpful and informative.
Good job.
Thanks.

Same here. It really redefined what I expect out of a knife.
It just feels "right" like it was made just for me.

You won't be let down.

The Manix has altered my paradigm about what an EDC is (no less :D ) I used to think that mega folders were a chairborne commando's fantasy but I've found the Manix usefull (particularly the broad blade) in ways that I haven't with other folders.

Example? Standing up on the road the other day having a yarn with the postwoman (her arrival is a major event in the day here). She says that I need to get some of the overgrown bushes cut back as it's creating difficulties accessing my mailbox. As we are talking, out comes the Manix and chop, chop, chop, through 1/4 to 1/2 inch gum tree boughs - problem solved and ardous walk to the shed and back for the right tools avoided. Postwoman drives away, looking slightly freaked. Ahh sometimes I take the 'single male living alone in the bush with lots of weapons' a little far - but it's a good knife the Manix.

I found a bunch of 1-inch thick marine rope on the beach the other day and was cutting it into salvageable lengths to decorate my deck (going for the beachcombers paradise look) In really heavy cutting like this, the extra mass of the manix actually decreases fatigue rather than adds to it.

2 complaints;

1) The clip is already looking a little loose after a month of daily carry - I wonder how long it will last. A beefier clip like in the military would be the way to go.

2) The back spacer has rusted beyond just small spots, from my sweat and the occasional salt water splash, despite the fact that I oil it regularly. This too may need repplacing at some point.

Otherwise this knife is built to last several lifetimes.

Awesome Job! If you could compare three or four
at a time that would be a cool feature
You might try visiting my webpage and checking out the "Compare Sizes" page. You can compare the sizes any three of about 60 different Spyderco models. They're not actual size, unless perhaps you own a 30" flat panel and run it at 1024 X 768, but they are all in the same scale, so you can judge them relative to one another. Just about every front lock is included, plus a few liner and compression lock models.

Hey Paul - that's nice. I never noticed that on your site!
Someone suggested that I should modify the 'see a spyderco in real size' page on my site to give the ability to show two models, but I never got around to do it.
