I found a large chunk of it on "that auction site". I can't afford the shipping, but otherwise I'd be all over it. It has lot's of manganese in it, so it should etch dark, and the heat treat is close to that of L6 so I would think the two would go well together and make some high impact strength damascus.

No one's used it? I know it's kind of obscure, but it sounds like a good steel. The toughness is about the same as L6, and the wear resistance is supposedly between O1 and D2. That part is hard to believe, but that's what they say...

It is rated as having lower wear resistance than A2, and at .7 wt% C, I'd bet it has less wear resistance than O1.

I think Tai Goo used A 6 in mix with something else for damascus a loooong time ago. Give him a shout about it.
