I was told that it is "one of the biggest knife shows in US" And it is International.
So I checked the location... somwhere in the middle of nowhere. The tables are pretty pricy but the info webpage is sheap as half-a-cent.

What do you think about it. I was thinking to go there at first, but after I tried to find more info ... and I did not... Now i am in serious doubt.

Any info on that?

This is the second year A.G. is having it and it is a very good show. A lot of very nice knives and people. I would recommend it. Very good setup and hotel. I will be there. Hope to see you there.

Uh? - The ABS school is in that area - As is some of the top ABS Blade Smith's. Just to name one Jerry Fisk, Edit - Yes Jerry's name is on the list....:D
Also a guy by the name of Bob Dozier does, you can do a search on his name, he does stock removal.
That area out in the middle of no were, is RICH in quality knife makers.
You may want to re think about going? If you would like to see and talk to some of the top makers of the WORLD. Just saying...... :)

Take care.

Off topic question...I notice that Tom Maringer is listed on the display list at the Russell show. Does anyone know if Tom is making knives again?

If you go to the page for the show on A.G. Russell's webpage you can see a bunch of pictures from last years show. However, the site appears to be down, which is not surprising after the ice storm we just had. I still don't have power.

I love how a location that is in the center of the country is described as the middle of nowhere :D. Rogers is a beautiful place nestled in the Ozarks. My grandparents used to live there on Beaver Lake. 'Course, anywhere is the middle of nowhere to someone somewhere ;).

Yes there are a number of big name makers at this show, and some not so well known. It is a fairly large show for a knife show, probably on the order of 200 or more tables. I am glad to see Tom Maringer listed as having a table, he was at last years show walking around and he has started making a few knives again. Very nice person and I look forward to seeing him again. The Rogers-Springdale area is no longer in the middle of nowhere. It is a major business area ( think Wal Mart), with lots of restaurants and hotels. Plus it is beautiful country. Allen I hope you get your power back on soon, we dealt with the same situation a year ago and it is not fun.
Best regards

Thanks for mentioning that about Tom, Brion! I think it's great he started making knives again. He was very skilled and creative back in his days of Vorpal Knives. As you mention, a very nice guy; fun to talk to. One of the early popularizers of kydex sheath systems, it was very cool to watch him flick that shortsword out of the shoulder holster under his sportcoat.

Dmitri's first appearance in public ! Some1, make sure to take pics !
Me workshop, aka garage, has been cold cold cold . When will this winter end already :) ?

That part of Arkansas is now fairly easy to get to by air, thanks in part to WalMart, no doubt. IIRC, Delta has regular flights out of Atlanta and with the Delta/Northwest merger, that means you can get there from anywhere.

The Blade Show is BIG, 600 tables, over 100 10 x 10 booths

We are a modest show, already 136 tables taken, I do not expect more than another 25-30 makers to make a deposit before show time. We already have makers froim Japan, Germany, and Canada, that makes this an international show.

We have a major airport about 30 miles from the hotel. The Embassy Suites Hotel is the best in the area and 2 rm suites will only cost the makers and atendees $100 including breakfast.

what else can I tell you?

The best airfares coming from my part of the world seem to be on Northwest going through Memphis. That seems to be the case across the board flying out of Tampa. It looks like the new mega-airline is really trying to promote the NWA routes in the South. The price difference between Delta and NWA is around $100. It sounds like they might be trying to shift some of the load from Atlanta and Cincinnati and fill up these NWA commuter jets coming out of Memphis. Bad for them, good for us.:D That would probably be very good new for you, Dmitry if you live within a reasonable distance of Minneapolis.

I would drive there. It is not a long detur for the mad dog like me... :)
Still did not decide. But thanks for the info, very helpful.
Special thanks for A.G. I did not find the Knife Event page for some rason. Now I can see better.
