I have a BK-9 and also a BK-7 I love them they are great but i want to know other peoples thoughts. Please coments and give mod ideas be nice please. thank you friends.

Nope. Absolute garbage.
You should send it to me for immediate disposal.

Seriously though to answer your question.
1. chopper: Yes, in my experience the only chopper that beats it is the junglas but that is a different price range.
2. food: Absolutely horrible, I'm not sure what type of nutritional value you expect from it but it's not safe to eat.
3. batoning tool: yup, if batoning is your cup of tea then the 9 will be perfect.

still though nsis

I have one and am fond of it. In all reality it gets left home too often because of its size, so I haven't really put mine through its paces.

I was impressed with its sharpness and ability to do detail work despite its size. Chopping and batoning are what it was made for. Its quite capable at those tasks.

Honestly, if you can find a way to carry it comfortably and keep it on you at all times it can do just about everything. I would still want a Mora around my neck though. I can't imagine dressing a rabbit or a catfish with a 9" Becker.

Chopping and battoning, absolutely.

Food?

Only if that is the steak you're trying to cut.

The nine is the King for a reason. Just be careful you don't say anything negative about it! 😜

I tend to carry 2-3 knives with me on camping trips, call me crazy? Paramilitary 2, BK2 and or Ontario RD9 (1/4" thick version).

Even the BK2 works for batoning. The 9 would have to be better though. I love the RD9 for batoning. I would imagine the BK9 chops well. I still prefer something heavier than my RD9 for chopping (depending on what size tree/logs I am chopping).

That is why I started to make my own "chopper".

A someone once said around these parts, "You can't not have a 9."

The BK9 shines in so many areas, chopping, limbing, batoning; though it gives way to so many the Becker's in the food prep department - such as my favorite, the 5.

Lest I get thrown out of here and have my Beckerhead number stripped from me and retired (banished) I would never say anything disrespectful against the mighty BK9 but given it's role in my quiver as a camp knife or vehicle knife, it is often upstaged by a hatchet or ax. For smaller tasks, I have my beloved 5 and it's smaller cousin the 15 - which are fantastic for food prep (and many, many other knife tasks) BTW.

All of that said, and to answer your questions, as has been previously stated: chopper - Yes.; batoning - Yes; food prep, well, unless you are rough butchering brontosaurus, there may be better choices. But, always remember, "You can't not have a 9."

the nine is King only because they stopped making the "Brute" ;-)

love my BK's :-)

Haha! The Brute is not in production for a reason. The 9 is a way better blade for sure. But everyone has their own opinions. :D

And I use my Modded 9 for food prep all the time.

Wait, you have the 9 and you are asking us if it makes a good chopper/food/batoning knife?

I have a great idea. Take your 9 and go use it for those things and learn the answer to your question. Then you will learn what it is you seek and have fun in the process. :D

Sorry to come off brash, but this is a very good example of how the internet has made it so people cannot formulate their own opinions or find their OWN answers by DOING!!

Go use the knife and come to your own conclusion for the outcome of performance, I think you will be happy with the results.:D

that is the most impressive Batoning I have ever seen, nice

BK-9 as a Chopper: Absolutely. I don't always chop with a large knife but when I do I prefer the BK-9

I love the 9 for food prep. It's actually my go to knife in the kitchen (my GF is a culinary student and my BK lineup sees more use in the kitchen than her knife kit)

Lastly I have beat my BK-9 through a lot of wood I probably shouldn't have to no ill effect.

I'd carry it around all the time if it wouldn't cause such a commotion with the general public :D
