Does anyone know if a BK-9 could make a good chopper/food/batoning tool?

Unfortunately, I don't own a 9 yet. I wouldn't think a knife that large would be the best for food though (unless your cutting watermelons or butchering a side of beef!)

the nine is King only because they stopped making the "Brute" ;-)

love my BK's :-)

Easy now.
First fence post tamping, now this?
This place is turning into powder keg!:Djk

If I couldn't make my own knives and could only have two for everything in life, I'd choose a BK-9 and a BK-16. They represent the most utility and highest bang-for-buck ratio available today.

A someone once said around these parts, "You can't not have a 9."

What nimrod said that?

Seriously? Dude, is that ALL you have to say on this matter? I'm flummoxed. Flummoxed I say..

I pretty much just repeat the same thing whenever the topic comes up. It's awesome, your car will get better mileage, your house is less likely to be destroyed by meteors, blah blah blah. Basically by now if you don't own one you're doing it wrong.

Batoning...

that is the most impressive Batoning I have ever seen, nice

Hey thanks. I really just needed a about a 4" x2" chunk of wood I could square off and use to scale the fish in that other picture I posted. Saw the opportunity to have fun gettin git though. :D

To answer the op question ... For the 9 yes to all... The 7 well do all but won't chop near as well.. The added weight of the 9 over the 7 in respect to the weight dif vs chopping is a no contest... 9 all the way

most Beckers are terrible at food prep. Ethan knows nothing about cooking, naturally :D so why should the knives excel? ;)

the BK9 is terrible. buy three.

i have a BK9 in my "variable knife jar". as a BK5. a Johnson Potbelly. the full set of Becker kitchen knives. and a bit more...

and the Brute is only BK1 because of marketing hattery...

the BK4, correction, the MACHAX, as made in CinCinnati, in Chrome or Parkerized, is the only knife you need to own

course, buy the others, that's nice too :D

sure sure, the Campanion is nice too
