Does anyone know if there is a heavy bladed custom like the discontinued Cold Steel Long Hunter?

If so I would like to know who made them, if they are still making them and can they be purchased at a reasonable price? Thanks in advance... :):thumbsup:

I'm not sure I completely understand your question....

Yes, this knife has been discontinued by CS some time ago. I would suspect that most/all dealers no longer have stock either, but it is worth searching around for if you really want one.

Are you asking if a custom maker can reproduce this design? I don't see why not, as it is a very generic style fixed blade. I do not know what a "reasonable price" means to you, however.

There are still many other production knives that have this same basic style - Fallkniven, Becker, ESEE come to mind.

Yes I have 2 of them both new. My question does anyone make a heavy thick bladed, flat ground custom? Full tang with nice handle. I would like a version of that knife in ' beefed up" with good steel.
It has to be very close to the Cold Steel shape of their blade.

Dozens of makers could do this for you. I would suggest posting your request in the Custom and Handmade Knives sub-forum. I am certain that someone on this forum could make what you asking, for a "reasonable" price. :)

Less than a grand.

You could probably find someone that could make you 2 or 3 of this style knife for a grand.

Post in the sub-forum I indicated above. :)
Yes, but I want something specific. I know it won't be that much. I just really like that blade and wish it was more substantial.:)
;)

I am surprised no one noticed whats on the blade. When I was a LONE WOLF dealer I was offered this knife and asked not to sell it. It's a commemorative made for a Air Force test pilot/astronaut.
It was right before they sold the company to Benchmade.

Try a SYKCO DB-421, damn near indestructible, easy to sharpen, 7 1/2” drop point blade similar to the folder pic you posted. Super comfortable and durable handle. Less than $300 including a good sheath. Not a true custom, more along the lines of “mid tech” or whatever the term is.

Why? I was involved in designing the Long Hunter and the goal was to recreate something similar to what the long hunters of Kentucky would have actually carried in the wilderness of that day. The steel in those is Carbon V, so there should be no complaint about that.

There isn't any complaint I own 2 brand new originals, I just want a HEAVY Copy sort of, something more substantial. I love the blade.. The long hunter I started this thread about is the COLD STEEL 36PS it was 4116 Krupp and sold for under $30 when they were available. They have been discontinued for quite a few years.

That's because it's not a great picture and hard to see what's on the blade.

The long hunter has always reminded me of an outdoorsy kitchen knife.
