Does anyone know kukri of Khukuri House ?

Hey Guys: Been busy today. I have a life to live you know.

Wow, did that post cause an explosion of emotion. A lot of you are still hurting it seems.

I bought one Khukuri from Bill. Paid $175.00 for the thing. Must have been a Shop One khukuri. Talked with him on the phone. Interesting guy. Great salesman. Read quite a number of the posts back then. Again great salesman. It was interesting to see how he made his forum members think that they had some personnel connection with the khukuri makers. This still goes on today. But Bill was the best, the rest are simply an echo.

Too many "Live Aid" concerts, and too many Police Benevolent Associations have made me very skeptical about claims of benevolence. Probably very cynical. When the books are audited, that is when the claims are revealed.

I never threw stones at the HI khukuris, they are as I said they are. And since competition has entered the market, the prices have come down.

And if paying more for these makes you feel better, go buy a bunch.

I got mine, now you get yours.

Slamfire, I hope you eventually grow out of your view of the world.

Doubt it though. You'll likely never know the peace of mind that Bill did.

While you have, no doubt, made some folks here angry, I feel nothing but pity for you.

Thank you my brothers for your posts. You said it all. Uncle Bill

was the best of us. He was truly a beloved man.He will never be

forgotten. We are all better people for having known him.

The lowered prices were mainly due to HI's construction of the current Birghorka factory, which cut some of the expenses of khukuri production.

Slamfire, you're a real piece of...work.

You can be as skeptical as you want, but before you step up and slander someone else, you better be prepared to back it up.

if you can't, then you just make yourself look like a troll. :thumbdn:

Agreed. Really did not come across well. Probably have some unresolved issues.

i think someone has went off their meds:thumbdn:. slamfire, you evidently werent brought up right or have a mental disorder. you are a troll of the worst kind.

No you falsely slung mud (or worse) on Bill for no good reason at all, and you were rightly called on your errors. You ought to be ashamed of yourself, but that would require better self-judgment than you've displayed thus far.

Bill maintained that he was “extra benevolent” to his knife makers, but he never revealed how much of each sale was going back to Nepal. Without an accounting of his books, I always considered his benevolence is an unsubstantiated claim, designed to make his American customers feel extra good about spending extra money.

If you realy wanted or needed to say that you should have said it to before cancer eat him alive, to say so now might have just be thoughtless I thought at first, but your follow up post just reveals you find it entertaining. Ok thanks, least we can be certain your just a lowlife.

Actualy I stand to be corrected but Bill didnt own Himalayen Imports. His father in law in Nepal does. His Name is Pala. As Bill himself said, It should have been called Himalayan exports.

Slamfire, it's really sad to think that people can go through life with the kind of outlook on things that you have.

Like all of your statments of alleged fact, that would fall into the category of an "unsubstantiated claim."

Mr Hinton: That was quite uncalled for. Not only do you know nothing about me, I would prefer it that way.

I did notice that you called in the Cavalry, and once all those people got their licks on me, now you come in and bayonet the wounded.

That is very vicious Mr. Hinton. You have no moral superiority over me. :barf::thumbdn:

Slamfire: passive-aggressive, irresponsible, and no sense of proportion. Add that to previously noted disrespect of the deceased, and we can't care about your assessments of moral superiority.

Sincerely,
The Cavalry.

I recently got my first Kuk from KH and was very impressed.Being new to the KUK thing I have no means for comparison, but assume the other two(HI,Tora) are simply more refined<I got mine as a user so dont mind the cosmetic imperfections(yes there are some).

Nepal has a long tradition with the khukuri. It's their national knife. KH is a good seller of functional working khukuris. I think you'll be pleased with your taste of the culture of Nepal. After working with a good khukuri one grows to appreciate the ancient design.

There are some poor quality "tourist" khukuris sold in Nepal and exported from there, but to my knowledge these are not sold by KH. There are also some poor quality khukuris that come out of India.

Nepalese people in general have smaller hands than Americans. Many of the khukuris out of Nepal have handles to short for large hands. In that case the buttcap pokes into the hand in an uncomfortable manner. HI went to producing appropriately sized handles for the American market and that was a great hit with the customers. If perchance the handle on your knife is a bit too small and it pokes you, a few minutes with a file can get rid of the offending point.

I tried to view your posts in a positive light and believed you meant well in your questions.

I no longer hold that view and I support Steely_Gunz's stance about the HI forums.

Classic troll tactic...
1. make inflammitory statements
2. when people then call said troll out on his behavior...
3. Troll becomes butt hurt and starts playing the martyr role...boo hoo you called in the calvary...and people dont like me..

Please leave BFC and do not come back.

:

In Nepal historicaly speaking the old style Rana Goverment soldiers or indeed the current maoists would probably rather than bayonet the wounded, rather just chop off thier hands & feet off, through the wrists & ankels with a rusty battered old kukri .

Sometimes they would also gouge out thier eyes or cut off thier noses & ears, whatever seemed most fitting. Nepalese history is full of such things.

Old British army employed Gurkhas would usualy just chop thier heads off or somesuch similar thing. {Unless realy wishing to scare the enemy.;)}

{Added purely to inform on a historical perspective. in case of intrest.} :)

I realy liked it out there even though the civil war was going on. so we couldnt get to someplaces we wanted because of the maoist roadblocks & shutdowns etc.

Nepal has some great people 80% of whom are very poor & its a lovely country, & loads of kukris there to..

I recomend a trip thier to anyone.

Uncle Bill was a good man. Not perfect, but he strived to be better. Many lives were changed by him and many generations to come will be better for him having been here. I didn't know him personally, but I know his words and deeds. And I know how he was loved by many. I can only hope my mark on this world will be half of his. I don't know you slamfire, I can only look at your words. What will your mark be?
