I guess this isn't exactly a bad/ugly post yet, but does anyone know Mark Turrell?
I met him when he was auctioning some of his knives on Ebay, and after some correspondences, commisioned him to make me a balisong.
We talked about blade styles, and handle types, and he said he would make me one. He said he had made them before.
I wanted a Damascus deep belly spearpoint with Damascus handles. and sent him $150.00 (his price)
I waited and waited. About every month or so I emailed him for a progress report. Sometimes it would take a couple of days/week to get back with me.
He said he completed one and sent me a scan of the blade.
I replied that I didn't really want a "weehawk" or "modified spearpoint" but a full double-edged wide belly spearpoint blade. But I said that I would buy that one, and have him make me another.
I sent another $150.00
He sent the first knife through Mailboxes ETC.
It never came.
Because it was sent through MBE, there was no tracking #.
I waited and waited, and eventually he had to put in a claim with MBE for a loss.
He said that he would make the bali I wanted originally, and I waited.
The last responce I had from him is the end of August...

Andy, sorry to wait so long to get back to you. I have been out of town
since Thurs Aug 16th and I will get back on September 8 (hopefully). My
company sent me to Houston for a little while (could not pass this
opportunity up) and I have not had a chance to work on the knives during this
time (obviously). I will either get them finished and to you by sept end or
I will send you a refund over night mail the next day. Thanks for all your
patience. "
I waited until the end of September, and tried to get back with him, but his email address is invalid.
He has moved to Houston from the original address I sent the money to.
Basically I'm out $300.00 and no knife except this little picture.
If anyone knows him, or how to get ahold of him, please let me know.
