Does anyone know of a school in Western NY?

Do you mean Central NY? Western is more towards Buffalo / Rochester.
Anyhow, in Ithaca area there is a club at Cornell University for Modern Arnis and Ryukyu Kempo. In Cortland (East of Ithaca about 45 min.) there is the East West Academy which teaches Innosanto Kali. I am also an instructor in the FMA, though mainly I teach the Western martial arts any more, and I teach private classes in the evenings. If you are interested in blade fighting, feel free to write. Towards Buffalo there are many good Modern Arnis players.

Timber, if you are near Buffalo, look up Tim Hartman and track him down. Highest rank Modern Arnis in USA under Remy Prensas bar none. An honest 6th degree and has taken the highest ranked test under Prof. Prensas who is now ill and likely permanently retired (prayers for you Profesor)
Anyway, Mr. Hartman was just out to see us lowly arnistdor-wannabe's in IL and I cn tell you having a lot of exposure to GOOD COMBATIVE bladework and stickwork, you could do a whole lot worse.
