Guys, who knows the name of the company that makes knives for Spyderco on Taichung, Taiwan?

Sal does not share the names of the makers he contracts with as a general rule.

I am sorry for my original comment to this post.

I have been warned and i apologize :)

Um, Taiwan is not a third-world country. I lived there for nearly eight years.

The only company that Spyderco contracts to that I can name is Gerber-Sakai in Seki, Japan. I have a Japanese knife magazine that shows the clipits being assembled there.

If you spent thirty years of your life developing relationships with makers all over the world, and spent hundreds of thousands of your dollars finding out which of them can actually deliver a product made to your standards, would you be eager to tell everyone who they are? Especially your competitors, many of whom have deeper pockets and would gladly tie up the production capacity of those makers?

Sal and Eric have spent a lot of time looking for makers that can live up to their standards and have worked with them to improve even more.

I know the C27 Jess Horn was made by Moki in Japan, the Volpe and Hossoms were made by Fox in Italy, and the original Walker CF was made by Klotzli in Switzerland. The first USA made Spydercos were made by Benchmade before the Golden facility was built. These are things that have come out over the years, not announcements Sal has made.

Regardless of who it is, the maker in Taichung puts forth exceptional craftsmanship and I have a deep respect for the individuals who take such pride in their work to create these beautiful knives.

Agreed. And seeing is believing. I would not have expected the quality that we have seen out of the Taiwanese factories before handling and owning some of these knives.

They are definitely doing a great job! I think the fit and finish is even better than the ones built in America. (In my opinion!)

I have three of the Taiwan made knives; the PPT, Gayle Bradley, and the Vallotton Sub-Hilt. All three of these knives are as well put together as is possible. I just can't see how ANY company, or maker could have done a better job on the manufacture of these three examples I have. These knives are simply excellent!

Made in Taiwan? I thought they were made by little magic elves that live in a tree, or is that cookies. Well either way, they're both good. :D

Judging by the quality of my Gayle Bradley the partner in Taiwan is really on their game for both fit and finish. Just an insanely well made knife.

Yeah, that Taichung maker has my respect too. They obviously take great pride in the quality and fit/finish of their knives.

My Sage 1 is a work of flawless art.
